Everyone who believes in and follows Jesus. WELCOME TO KONNECT 1 WEEK OUR PURPOSE Small Group Welcome Choose a few review questions. 1. Introduce yourself, and welcome new kids by name. 2. Kids share what happened during the past week. 3. Check up on past week’s prayer requests and events. 4. Discuss the Welcome Question: What do you think is better: working together or working alone? 1. What mission did Jesus give to all of His followers? Go out and teach everyone the Good News about Jesus. 2. Another name for the body of Christ is the Church. Why do you need to be a part of the Church to do the mission Jesus gave you? You can’t teach every single person in the world about Jesus all by yourself. You need help, and you need to work together. 3. What are some reasons we need to make friends with other people at church? Work together to teach people about Jesus, pray together, friendship, learning about God, help each other, take care of each other, etc. 4. How can you make friends at church? Answers will vary. 5. Why do you think it’s important to go to church and talk with your Small Group? Answers will vary. Small Group Activity You’ll Need Notecard Activity sheet (1 per child) Envelope (1 per child) Small Bag (1 per child) Tattoo (1 per child) Invite card (1 per child) Stickers (2 per child) Markers (1 set per group) To Do Say: You know what would make Konnect more fun? If all of your friends were here! Make a swag bag to invite them! 1. Give each kid a Notecard activity sheet. Ask: Who do you want to invite to Konnect next week? 2. Kids write the name of their friend inside the notecard. 3. Kids fold the notecard, place it in an envelope, and write their friend’s name on the the envelope. 4. Each kid puts the envelope, one tattoo, one invite card, and one sticker in a bag to give to their friend. 5. Give kids a second sticker to keep for themselves. 6. 1. What mission did Jesus give to all of His followers? Go out and teach everyone the Good News about Jesus.

1. What does it mean to worship God in spirit and in truth? Worship God honestly with your whole heart for who He truly is.

WORSHIP WEEK 1 WHAT IS WORSHIP?

2. Kids share what happened during the past week.

3. Check up on past week’s prayer requests and events.

4. Discuss the Welcome Question: What do you love the most?

1. What does it mean to worship God? To show God all the love, thankfulness, and respect you have for Him

2. Why do you think going to worship night was so important to Alissa? Answers will vary.

3. When you love someone, you show them. When you love God, you show Him by worshipping. What are some ways to show your love for God? Show His love to others, pray, dance, lift hands up, talk about Him, thank Him, obey, work hard at what He’s given you to do, etc.

4. Why does God deserve our worship? He’s all powerful, loving, our Savior, our Creator, forgiving, etc.

5. Why do you think it doesn’t matter where you worship God? Answers will vary.

Small Group Activity

You’ll Need • Worship Game activity supplement (1 per group)

To Do Say: There are lots of ways to worship God! Let’s play a game about it. I’ll say an action. If it’s a way to worship God, do it! If it’s not, freeze. If you do an action that’s not worshipping God, you’re out for one round!

1. Read an action from the Worship Game activity supplement.

2. Kids do the motion if it’s a way to worship God or freeze if it’s not.

3. Ask a kid to share why they think the the action is worship or not.

4. Repeat steps 1-4 for a few rounds.

5. If time allows, play again, but let kids do all the actions.

Choose questions to ask after kids play.

1. Which Konnect character do you think knows the most about worship? Answers will vary.

2. Vintage Konnect Trivia: Which Konnect crew member’s favorite way to worship God is singing? Alissa

Choose an action step question. 1. What are some ways you can worship God when you’re

not at church this week? Answers will vary.

2. When you really get to know God, you want to worship Him a lot! What can you do to get to know God better? Answers will vary.

Pray together. 1. Ask kids to share things they’d like you to pray about.

2. Write down their prayer requests.

3. Pray together over all the prayer requests.

1. What does it mean to worship God? To show God all the love, thankfulness, and respect you have for Him

2. Why do you think Paul and Silas still worshipped God, even when they were in jail? Answers will vary.

3. Why do you think you don’t you have to be at church to worship? God’s always with you, so you can always worship Him.

4. Why is it good to worship God when you’re sad or mad? It helps you remember God is always good and in control, it can change your attitude, etc.

5. Why do you think Abby thought worship night was the only time to worship God? Answers will vary.

You’ll Need • Worship Watch activity sheet (1 per child) • Clear tape (1 roll per group) • Markers (1 set per group) • Scissors (1 set per group)

To Do

1. Ask a kid to tell you what the Point is.

Say: The Point tells us to worship God all the time. Even when we’re mad, even when we’re sad, and even when we’re glad. Here’s a worship watch to help you remember that.

2. Give kids a Worship Watch activity sheet.

3. Kids cut out the worship watch.

4. Kids write or draw some times they can worship God on the wristband.

5. If time allows, kids decorate watches and tape them around their wrist.

Choose questions to ask while kids work. 1. What worship ideas can you get from the apps on the

face of your worship watch? Answers will vary.

2. If you were Abby, which part of the Konnect Station would you explore first? Answers will vary.

1. Introduce yourself, and welcome new kids by name.

2. Kids share what happened during the past week.

3. Check up on past week’s prayer requests and events.

4. Discuss the Welcome Question: What kind of shoes do you wish you had?

1. What does it mean to worship God? To show God all the love, thankfulness, and respect you have for Him

2. Why were Mike’s shoes an idol? They distracted him and kept him from doing what God wanted him to do.

3. When you’re good at something, does it make you think about how good you are, or how good God is? Answers will vary.

4. When you spend a lot of time on something, do you get distracted or do you still think of God first? Answers will vary.

5. When you really like something, do you keep it to yourself or do you share it with others to show God’s love? Answers will vary.

Small Group Activity

You’ll Need • Butcher paper (6’ strip per group) • Markers (1 set per group)

To Do

1. Place butcher paper strip in the middle of your group.

2. Write G O D in huge letters in the middle of the sheet.

Ask: What are some of your favorite things? What do you really love to do? Draw or write about it on this paper.

3. Kids draw or write things they love and love to do on the butcher paper.

Say: God gave us all of these things, and that’s good! But when do you think these things turn into idols?

4. Kids respond with their ideas.

Say: When the things you love are more important to you than God, they’re idols. Let’s make sure God is most important in our lives and that all our worship is for Him!

5. Work together to make the huge G-O-D on the paper thicker, bigger, and the more colorful.

6. If time allows, write, “God,” in all the spaces on the paper and draw or write different ways to worship Him.

1. Why do you think the shoes were so important to Mike? Answers will vary.

2. Vintage Konnect Trivia: What other things used to be idols for Mike? Pranks, candy, and video games
