Press Release Milan/Frankenberg, April 2014 1 Small and fine, beautiful and functional: the new S 1200 desk Design: Thonet Design Team/Randolf Schott, 2014 Small desks help to save space, and this is no doubt one of the reasons they have become a fixed element of contemporary living over the past several years. Now, Thonet presents the S 1200 desk. which was especially developed for use in the home office. Available in a variety of versions and with optional accessories, the filigree desk becomes a personalized piece of furniture and makes working an experience. The frame of the desk is also available in several elegant tubular steel colours in addition to the classic chrome-plated version. The design by Randolf Schott was inspired by the company-produced collection of classic Bauhaus furniture. The decisive advantage of the S 1200 is its compact dimensions – 88 cm high, 110 cm wide and 66.5 cm deep – which allow it to be integrated into the smallest of living spaces. A well-conceived tubular steel frame forms the basis of the S 1200; its slanted shape makes getting up from the desk easy even in narrow hallways or niches. A footrest enables a relaxed seating position. Optional accessories allow users to keep things on and in the desk properly organized: a metal panel serves as a multi-functional bookrest or magnetic memo board, a cover for the compartment (mounted on top) or as a pad for tablet PCs. Magazines, letters and pens disappear into practical storage boxes. The accessories are made of flocked sheet metal. The velveteen material is not only comfortable to the touch but also protects the surface of the desk and electronic devices placed upon it. A clever cable management system elegantly guides annoying power supply cables away from the desk: multiple plugs disappear in a net mounted beneath the tabletop. Magnetic clips (ThonetClip®) on the back side of the tubular steel frame can be freely positioned and guide individual cables from the table to the outlet, unnoticed. The tabletop of desk S 1200 is also available with the new surface material ThonetDur® in addition to various solid wood versions. The velvety laminate not only offers perfect protection but also makes the tabletop a haptic experience. Visually, the silky-matt look creates the impression of a smooth surface. The S 1200 desk perfectly matches the other tubular steel furniture from Thonet and can be combined with all seating furniture in the collection. Accessories: S 1211 Pencil box S 1212 Filing box A 1213 Multi-functional bookrest S 1214 Cable management set
