Second Grade Itinerary Parents, Guardians, and students, I first want to thank you for coming to Family Literacy night! We will all meet up in the cultural hall. 6:00 P.M. Meet in the cultural hall; the principal will discuss that each teacher has something set up in the classrooms. That he/she is glad that they could all make it to Family Literacy Night. There will be a handout given to show what each teacher is doing. 6:10 P.M. Mrs. Montgomery will give a quick note on why it is important for their chi ldren to read to someone for at least 20 minutes every night. She will also encourage t heir children to show their parents or guardians to show them their classroom library and what they are doing in literature. 6:15 P.M.    8 P.M. Time for the parents/guar dians and students to be in their classroom area and have their children show them their classroom library and do the events that are happ ening in the classroom. Remember to be respectful to those around you, especially with the ones that are doing the storytelling. If you have volunteered to do a reading, please go first to Mr. Beckingall’s classroom and get signed up for when you are going to do the reading. You will either be reading in Mr. Beckinghall’s class or Miss Jones That way you know when to be in there to do your reading. When you sign up, then you are welcome to go lo ok into the other classrooms until it is your time to read. Please be there 10 minutes early, thank you. Mr. Beckinghall’s Room 26 This room will be the parent/guardian volunteer readers who will be telling a story, reading their favorite picture book, telling a tradition, or whatever readin g they chose to do. Mrs. Montgomery’s Room 27  This room will be where they play sight wor ds bingo and have refreshments. They will have  bingo on the sight words they have learned from Kindergarten up to Second grade. Miss Jones’ Room 28 This room will have refreshments and the teacher can answer generic questions that pertain to literature circles or anything that deals with reading. She won’t be able to answer specifi c questions about your child, especially if they aren’t in her classroom.
