• First Experimental Electric Telegraph Line got started between Calcutta (Kolkata) and Diamond Harbour
1881
• Telephone exchanges were opened by the Oriental Telephone Company Limited of England at Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad
• Service was established with a total of 93 subscribers 190
