PRESS RELEASE

January 26th, 2016

SLUSH ASIA, LARGEST INTERNATIONAL STARTUP EVENT IN JAPAN RETURNS ON MAY 13TH-14TH

This year, for the second time, Slush Asia will be held in Tokyo. On May 13th and 14th, Makuhari Messe will gather innovative talent from around the world to inspire the next generation of brilliant minds and unite tech communities across the globe.

Slush is the focal point for startups and tech talent to meet with top-tier international investors, executives and media. This year’s theme is the dialogue between mankind and technology, which connects the talks on success and failures by prominent entrepreneurs, a demo area for startups and a pitch contest featuring the best 100 startups. First announced speakers at Slush Asia 2016 include Yoshito Hori, President of GLOBIS University, Geoff Lewis, Partner at Founders Fund, James Riney, Head of 500 Startups Japan, and Paul Bragiel, Managing Partner at i/o Ventures. More names will be announced in the following days and weeks.

This year, the event is expected to gather over 6,000 attendees from all over the world to Tokyo. This will include an expected 600 startups, 300 investors and 400 journalists to take part in the event on May 13-14th. Registration is now open at http://asia.slush.org.

At first Slush Asia in 2015, over 3,000 entrepreneurs, investors, journalists, and youth, from almost 40 countries came together. This marked a new chapter of bridging dialogues between startup communities across Asia and the world. With the positive reception of Slush Asia 2015, the event will move into Makuhari Messe to support the growth of the event.

ABOUT SLUSH

Slush is a non-profit event organized for the first time in Helsinki in 2008 by a community of entrepreneurs, investors, students and festival organizers. Slush has transformed Finland into an international meeting place for entrepreneurs, and has been one of the key factors in building a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Nordics.

In 2015, Slush brought together 15,000 attendees, including 1,700 startups, 800 venture capital investors and 630 journalists from exactly 100 countries. Although Slush has grown from a 300-person event to become one of the leading events of its kind in the world, the philosophy behind it has remained the same: to help the next generation of great, world-conquering companies forward.
