Remediation of historical pollution and ecological treatment of waste are a growing

concern for the industry, especially since the European environmental regulations have

become more rigorous. Waste handling, in general, becomes a more and more demanding

task that requires specialised expertise and equipment.

In answer to this need, Envisan, the environmental subsidiary of Jan De Nul Group, started

in 2009 with the design and construction of a state-of-the-art waste treatment installation,

combining the best available techniques for sludge, soil and waste water.

The treatment facility has been operational from 2010 and since then it has been providing

turnkey solutions.

The Envisan Soil, Sludge and Water Treatment Plant has the following components:

Reception area;

Sorting/screening area;

Fully equipped Quality Control/Research Development laboratory;

Sludge dewatering plant;

Stabilization/immobilization/mixing unit;

Fluidized bed incinerator;

Bio-remediation area;

Biological waste water treatment plant.

The plant also has an environmental permit for a thermal desorption plant.

Using this fully integrated treatment facility concept, Envisan can provide turnkey solutions

without depending on third parties.

The strength of Envisans treatment facility for sludge, soil and waste water lies in a completely integrated, economical,

ecological, flexible, qualitative and safe waste treatment concept.

Safety: Health, Safety, Environment ISO 14001:2004

ISO 9001:2008

OHSAS 18001:2007

Completely integrated The plant is IPPC certified and developed to handle the

basic incoming waste as well as all secondary waste streams

of water, soil and air, produced during the remediation

process, resulting in a 100% treatment of waste

Economical Energy consumption is often the most important cost driver

during environmental treatment. Intelligent use and re-use of

energy makes the Envisan treatment facility a schoolbook

example of green environmental technology.

The thermal installation operates auto- thermally. No fossil

fuels are required for the high temperature process.

The energy required for the processing is recovered from

the (oil in the) waste. The steam generated from the

thermal installation is used to produce electricity, sufficient

for the entire plant.

Ecological The technology is in compliance with the highest

European emission standards (2000/76/EC on waste

incineration and 2008/98/EC on waste).

Efficient use of energy minimizes the CO2 footprint of

the plant.

Waste is minimized by means of sludge dewatering and

separation techniques.

Qualitative All ingoing and outgoing volumes are registered, analyzed,

characterized and tracked.

In order to obtain optimal process conditions, the

treatment facility is equipped with its own laboratory to

characterize waste during the entire treatment process.

Flexible The plant is equipped with the necessary storage capacity

for incoming waste and raw materials, ensuring continue

treatment and acceptance of waste.

With its location in Pitesti (Romania) nearby the exit of

the A1 highway to Bucharest, the plant is easy to access.

Envisan obtained the required permits, such as ADR-

licence, in order to transport waste material from external

sites to its treatment facility.
