Learned Helplessness

• A deeper sense of loss of things that are actually in your control

• Interpretation of events in predictable, inegative ways

– Personalized (I am a bad ___ )– Pervasive (Everything I do is bad)– Permanent (Nothing is going to

change)

But God, You Said …

• I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

• Yet in all things I am more than a gconqueror. (Romans 8:37)

• Greater is He who is in me than He who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

Deep Fears

• Common tactic used by the enemy

• Distortion of realityyFalse evidence that appears real

• Immobilizes, prevents/delays forward movement

But God, You Said …• You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of

power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

• I don’t have to be afraid because there is thi d th t ill t b l d dnothing covered that will not be revealed, and

hidden that will not be known. (Matthew 10:26)

• I did not receive the receive the spirit of bondage again to fear because I have been adopted and can cry out "Abba, Father." (Romans 8:15)

Nuggets from the Kitchen Table

• --A family must be able to make joint decisions (the Word of God says: “How can two walk together unless they agree”). Everyone has a responsibility to make joint decision. Be able to listen to your spouse and repeat what they have said.

• --Being on the same page does not mean always agreeing. This is way couples separate. We “MUST” get an agreement and be on the same page. There is power in agreement. So make sure that you are in agreement.

• --We need to be comfortable in ourselves and in God. Do not lose your identity, so if the worst happens you will be able to move on and be all that God has for you to be. Everything you do should align up with God and what He wants you to do.

Nuggets from the Kitchen Table

• --What ways have family laid the foundation for your life? Find time to find out what goes on in each individual’s life (Sunday’s Dinner).

• --Be true to who you are and who God has called you to be. When you are one with God, He will send you that mate.

• --When you have adults living in the home always set rule for the house and make sure that they comply to those rules.

Health-Spiritual Audit

1. Who am I? Am I content with whom I am becoming?

a) What spiritual direction am I going? Not left or right, right or wrong)

b) What direction is my health going? Am I aging to fast or staying young?Am I getting more or less healthy in my journey? What inherently (genes) am I passing down to my next generation?

A and B are tied together. One cannot operate without the other being affected.

Health-Spiritual Audit2. Am I becoming less religious and more

spiritual?a) Am I following traditional mundane paths

or am I allowing myself to be stretched, searching or working my purpose?

b) Do I continue to eat foods that I know are adversely affecting my health?

Pray over a hamburger and fry meal and think God is going to make it somehow healthy) Or am I making the right choices to not only feed nutrition to my body but to also feed my spirit man?

• Our bodies are the first gift God gave to us.

Health-Spiritual Audit

3. Does my family recognize the authenticity of my journey? Do they see and believe the positive changes in my lifestyle?

a) Am I showing and sharing my walk?a) Am I showing and sharing my walk?

b) Is the change in my physical man reflective of my training? You can have a great workout and bad eating habits and very little occurs in your wellness.

4. Do I have a quiet center to my life?

Page 8: SLP Super Saturday Presentation (7.23.11).pptSLP Super Saturday Session Presentation 7.23.2011 4 But God, You Said … • You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and

Health-Spiritual Audit

5. Is my spiritual feeding the right diet for me? a) Is my worship meeting me where I am,

feeding my spirit? If t d til it f dIf not upgrade until it feeds you.Bishop Long gives us great Word. We must apply it to our lives.

b) Is the food you are eating giving you life or is it pushing you to the grave before your time?

Health-Spiritual Audit

6. Do I have a flow through philosophy? Is my bowel clean or am I stagnant?

The freshness is in the flow; a mountain stream is fresh; the Everglades are stagnant. Some of us want to be like a lake and not a river. We want to accumulate before we let much flow through.David “ I will not give that which has cost me nothing”.

Health-Spiritual Audit

7. Do I bargain or rationalize with myself? Obedience largely determines my relationship with myself, my health, others and God. I must check my yobedience. My training/workout is not a job, it is what I enjoy to do.Do I obey God, my health out of fear or love? Both He and I would agree love is better.

Health-Spiritual Audit

8. Do I have joy? Do I have it? a) Am I living with complacency, settling, or

being stagnant?

b) Am I living with joy knowing that I made the right choice for my God, for my family, and for my purpose? I am living knowing there is joy because I chose the right path.

Financial Planning

Financial Planning consists of 5 different components:

1. Cash Management (includes Tax Planning)2 A l ti G l (i l d I t t2. Accumulation Goals (includes Investment

Planning, College Savings Planning)3. Retirement Planning4. Estate Planning5. Risk Management and Insurance Planning

Cash Management

• When you say budget, what they hear is restriction.

• Scripture records in Proverbs 29:18 – Where there is no vision, the people perish (KJV) or Where there is no revelation the people cast off restraint (NKJV)revelation, the people cast off restraint (NKJV).

• Restrained means to hold back from action; keep in check or under control. Restrict means to confine or keep within limits, as of space, action, etc.

Investment Planning• • In determining how to invest, there are a few things

you need to consider:

• 1. What are my investment goals? What am I trying to achieve? Is it long-term? Is it for a child’s education?

• 2. How much money do I have to invest?• • Directly investing in the stock market may require a

relatively large upfront investment• • Mutual Funds; however, may accept smaller monthly

contributions

• 3. What is my risk tolerance? How much can you stomach?

Page 13: SLP Super Saturday Presentation (7.23.11).pptSLP Super Saturday Session Presentation 7.23.2011 4 But God, You Said … • You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and

Practical Advice and Words of Wisdom

• The things that you go through in life prepare you or process you for where you are going. As we go through life, God is perfecting us and taking things out of us that are not like Him and placing things in us that are more like Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

• A job is not your source God is your source Trust God• A job is not your source. God is your source. Trust God to direct your paths and lean not unto your own understanding. (Psalm 121:2 and Proverbs 3:5)

• Have friends who know what season you are in regardless of what your current circumstances look like. Have friends who encourage and speak life to you.

• Do not let man define who you are. God is the one who formed you and has the blueprint for your life. (Jeremiah 1:5)

Practical Advice and Words of Wisdom

• God doesn’t always make sense. Sometimes he will give you an illogical instruction. Do what God says and not what people think you should do. (Judges 7 – Story of Gideon)

• Hear from God as he gives you strategic downloads, do what he says and enter in to His promisewhat he says and enter in to His promise.

• There was usually an action required before Jesus, the Prophets and God performed miracles.

• Encourage yourself with songs and sing praises unto God. Psalm 100 says to “come before his presence with singing”.

• The Bible is your instruction manual for good success. Meditate on it day and night. (Joshua 1:8)
