What is the 2006 Update?• Each working group reviews their tables only for any

corrections or updates, based on the industry’s latest information– If a TWG needs to update figures or text, then report to IRC

for discussion/approval.– 2006 Timeframe -- 2006 Update uses the 2005 ITRS 15-

year timeframe: 2005 through 2020.– Use the WAS-IS format from the 2005 tables for those that

need to be updated. – Each ITWG writes a 1-page summary of key

changes/challenges for the 2006 Update.– These updates must be finished by September 2006

• Based on the 3 Groups of topics. Each group needs to turn in their tables ON TIME to the other group teams [Slide 4].– On time delivery very critical to make schedules.– If you cannot deliver, delegate to someone who can.

• Domestic [regional] TWG [DTWG] – Overall Responsibility– DTWG management and funding are handled by

the DTWG chair or co-chair. • Communications

– The DTWG chair or co-chair are responsible for all pass-downs from the ITWG meetings.

– Membership lists and email address lists, as well as the work-in-progress sites on the internet are managed by the DTWG chair or co-chair, usually by their administrative assistant.

• Budget– DTWG budgets are managed by each DTWG chair

for DTWG activities.

Slide 7

• TWG – Domestic or DTWG Members– Each DTWG has a total of seven recognized voting

members, with potentially many more expert members.– Members are usually between 10-20 people per region.

• DTWGs should have seven voting members [minimum membership number]. The required affiliation composition [very important] is as follows:

– 2- chip manufacturers– 2- suppliers– 2- consortia– 1- research, either government or academia

This composition of voting members allows consensus based on equitable distribution of the industry sectors of chip makers, suppliers, consortia members, and researchers.

Slide 8

• DTWG Members Selection– DTWG members are those who are representative experts for their

technology to be TWG members• DTWG chairs are nominated and voted on by the current members.• The DTWG may choose to vote on regular new members

 – Some DTWGs choose to have "subTWG leaders and chairs for focus

groups. • Those subTWG leaders supply the DTWG chair/co chair or editorial

contact with information regarding their chapter roadmaps.

• ITWG – International Representatives for DTWGs– ITWG members are picked by their teams. Two people are selected

from each team to represent their regional TWG at the International Roadmap ITWG/IRC workshops.

– These ITWG members meet with their counterparts from the other

regions to share information from their “home teams” and reach global agreement on challenges and potential solutions, review materials, etc.

Page 9: Slide 1 ITRS 2006 Update The First Twelve Slides: –Objective of 2006 Update ………………………………….Slide 2 –2006 ITRS Schedule …..…………………………………….Slide

Slide 9

• DTWG Meetings– The DTWG chair holds a minimum of quarterly meetings among

that DTWG [monthly meetings are encouraged] and works directly with the other regional DTWGs’ chairs through tele- or video conferences and email.

• As a suggestion…– Many DTWG meetings are held in conjunction with other

conferences or meetings where the same people will be, to help with room rental and other meeting costs.

– Meetings can be sponsored by the DTWG chair's company or

organization in a conference facility for that company.

2006 ITRS Update InstructionsThese instructions cover the 2005 ITRS table line items that are

updated, deleted, or added.

• The word file of each TWG chapter is posted online at www.itrs.net.

• Tables requiring revision can remain in Word or put into Excel spreadsheets for update by the TWG.

• Update format must be maintained in order to see new revisions as follows:

– Each table indicates 2005 line items that require revision as WAS, with duplicate rows beneath the WAS row for update if new data or correction for 2006 Update apply.

– Each ITWG fills in this new IS row with the new data.

• Deleted or new additional lines can also be indicated. – Deleted line items are noted as DELETE and with the data struck through.– New lines are noted as ADD and are located as they should be within a

table. As added new information, these do not have WAS rows.

How to….• It is optional to update TWG tables in

either Word or Excel. Since many groups prefer Excel, the following slides were provided for those who are unfamiliar with copying tables from Word into Excel, and formatting tables in Excel.

• Those tables that are not updated do not need to be put into Excel.

• The steps included are those most often used during the update process.
