When entering an invoice/work order/quote a new lookup was added in version 10, called Order Guide.

This could speed the entry process, reduce errors and increase user-friendliness

There is a utility to build the order guide file from the part number history from the PSHIS sales history file automatically. What it does, it lets you build a lookup file for each customer based on their prior purchases. Then add items that are added such as: any item that the customer has asked about or items that the company believes that they might be interested it.

We have reformatted the report so that it could be faxed or emailed to a

customer to make it easy for them to place an order and not miss an item.

It could easily be accompanied by a special list and/or a close-out list to

generate more sales.






Order Guide – Enhanced Report





Installation happens automatically when you install V10 or better

To activate this feature, you need to go to Order Entry> Options> Codes> Order Guide> Run Utility

To keep the file updated, rerun the file daily/weekly/monthly as needed

To optimize this feature, staff should be trained to manually add items that a customer inquires about and any item that the staff feels that the customer might be interested in.

This product should require no troubleshooting. Its beautiful in its simplicity.

Re-indexing is almost always a first step

If a record locking error occurs, use UTICMS to delete any blank records

If problems still exist, use dbFix & FileFix to rebuild the file

If the problem remains, it might be desirable to use UTICMS to zap the file and recreate.

There is lots of opportunity to expand this function:

Add the ability to transfer this info to the recurring batch so repeat customers could have their orders populated with stock numbers with or without quantities.

Add stock numbers ordered by similar businesses. Best done by customer type or SIC code

Add option to add items in Customer Special Pricing

Add periodic automatic update

Use PDF Explode, or PDF Blaster to send these order sheets




Expanding this to the POS market might of value:

A customer could get a sheet on entering the store or before leaving with:

– All the items that they had purchased before with what aisle they are currently on (specials could be added)

– If a previous purchase are on special or just at a lower price that their last purchase, flag it

– Taking it one step further, the sheet could be emailed/faxed to a customer, they could mark the items that they want. The store could then pull them items and let them just pick up the items at checkout
