Volume 2, Issue 6
June 2021 I hope each of you had a Great Memorial Day Weekend. Golf, Swim, Tennis, Fitness, Food and Beverage were hopping all week-end long. It was great seeing all of the member activity with the their friends and family.
With summer now here I would like to remind everyone the im-portance of securing reservations at the club. With the demand we have seen on the better weather days it’s so important to have a tee time reservation in advance. The same goes for Food and Bever-age. By securing a reservation, it allows our management team to better schedule the proper staff levels for the day and in the case of F&B how much food to prep in advance of your arrival. Thank you in advance for helping out with this detail.
Remember, Saturday June 12th is the Member Appreciation Day. It’s a full day of activities including the kick off of PickleBall at RCC. One of our very own members David Krischke will be providing the instruction starting at 9:00 AM at the Tennis Courts.
Thank you for your continued support
By the time you read this newsletter RCC will have introduced Pickleball as a new activity. The Board has approved the use of one tennis court to be dedicated for the growth of the overall STF Facility. We have had many requests for the game and it’s time to give it an honest try.
RCC has purchased a portable net and will mark off the court dimensions for play. We will also have rackets and balls available in the golf shop for rental. Once set-up is completed you may you start playing.
A few interesting facts about Pickleball:
In 2020 PickleBall had 4.2 million players in the US which is a 21.3% in-crease over the year prior
60% of all core players are over the age of 55
21.1% of all players are over the age of 65
There is over 34,000 courts nation-wide and growing with over 1900 “Ambassadors” of the game
It’s clear that Pickleball is growing and it is extremely popular with the aging population as it requires far less movement than Tennis however still provides the social networking among friends and much needed exercise.
Please join us on Saturday, June 12th at 9:00 am for a Pickleball clinic instructed by one of our very own members Mr. David Krischke.

MGA~ President Ed Patterson
We had 28 players for the MGA event Saturday May 6. The format was four player teams, select drive and two low net. We added a little twist in that each player played his own ball on the par 3’s. Everyone seemed to enjoy the format and best of all play was completed in four hours. Winning was the team of Hord, Gerhard, Yeager, and Patterson. Second place honors with a score of 116 was Schwing, Craig and Brett Bohn, and Penshorn.
The big winner of the second event in May was the weather, rain canceled the event. It was disappointing to not be able to play, but we needed the moisture and we got plenty. Those of you that were praying for rain can back off a little now. DAL for this event had to be the mosquitoes.
The MGA tournaments in June will be Saturday June 5th and Thursday June24th. Please join us for the fun, signup sheets are in the pro shop. The rain has made our golf course green and beautiful, remember the greens are soft and mark easily (it’s a fact that for every 25 ball marks you repair on the greens guarantees you one extra birdie), so repair your mark and find another one to fix.

Summer is here and your golf course maintenance crew is into summer mowing patterns. This month (June) we will be once again be completing a dryjet process to our greens. This is a specialized process that water is forced into the ground to create channels in the green. These channels are about 5 inches deep which are backfilled with sand. This process allows for better drainage and root growth. (Note photos below)
We will also continue to work on these high focus areas:
• Removal of the St. Augustine grass from the playing areas. This will be a slow process before it is all gone but we are working towards that goal.
. • We will continue to manage traffic control ropes in the playing area to assist with the grow in
Finally, we need your help in assisting us with cart traffic, we are seeing more areas on the course showing signs of the additional cart traffic. PLEASE avoid weak areas and PLEASE observe all cart rules throughout the course.
