Slaves to Technology By : Jasleen K.R. We're a generation of idiots, smart phones and dumb people. All those social media apps on your cell phone with so many people on your friend's list yet how many of them know who you really are. We love to click endless selfies before everything we do and then exaggerate the fun we didn't even have as we were just a bunch of kids sitting in a group but all staring down at their screens instead of being there in the moment. Maybe being fake is the new cool. These so-called-social media apps are anything but social. We open our devices and shut our doors.

Slaves to Technology By : Jasleen K.R.We're a generation of idiots, smart phones and dumb people.

When I was a child, I never wanted to come back home in the evening. But now, all I see is silent parks and empty swings. The kids today have grown up seeing us engaged in our cell phones and thinking it's the norm. They loath the open sky and cannot imagine a world without this amazing invention. Where even shopping can be done online, such is the trend, gone are the days where we enjoyed those weekend trips to the market. Why would the kids roam around in dust when they have all those online games under their one command. We're becoming a generation where we seek escape from this world and yet find solace by plugging in our earphones.

We're all being part of this social isolation.Let's look up from our screens, shut those displays. Give people your love, not your like. Let's walk barefoot in the wet morning grass and enjoy the soul purifying warmth of the sun. Play real games, have shopping sprees with your girl friends, be a human again instead of walking machines. Have some real fun which you don't need to share with your hundred friends online but just with the people you're present with.

I'm guilty too of being a part of this, of not being present for all those moments, just because I was too busy glistening up my online profile. Let's put an end to this social isolation and talk face-to-face. Next time you find yourself looking down on your screen, put your hands behind your head and step away from the phone. Then only can you breathe the fresh air and live life the real way. Because sometimes we have to disconnect to make a real connection.
