Slavery is not a thing of the past.
Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold, and are forced to work.
Slaves can be held against their will from the time of their capture, purchase or birth.
They are deprived of the right to leave, to refuse to work or to demand compensation.
Slavery is not a thing of the past.
Historically, slavery was recognized by most societies
Forms of SlaverySlavery is currently outlawed in every country, but continues anyway in the form of:
Debt bondage (a person’s pledge of their labour as repayment for some form of debt)
Indentured servitude (a promise to work for a certain number of years and then be free to work on their own)
Serfdom (peasants who live on and work the land for a Lord)
