Jaden Pinnock Slasher film music research Psycho music- the sound of the music soundtrack of psycho is composed of high-pitched violins and a lower pitch violin. The high-pitched violin sound highly resembles screaming and also creates a sound similar to that of a saw cutting or a stabbing motion. This indicates to the audience that is a horror film containing horrific scenes. The stringed instruments create a tense atmosphere as it fast paced driving sound. As our Opening is that of a slasher film we may use a music soundtrack with stringed instruments of create a sense of panic and tension. The stringed instruments also sound sharp which mirror the tools of knives. The Omen soundtrack- However, within our film idea our slasher films contains religious aspects to it, as the killer was brought up within a religious cult it may be useful to dark twisted soundtrack of church prayers and humming’s, some horror films such as the omen contain sounds and humming from religious churches as it sounds unnerving as religion is accepted to be true to some people in society and the fact that it is beyond people may evoke fear.

Horror film music is usually start off slow paced to create tension, and then gradually get faster to increase the levels of anxiety. Soundtracks such as Freddy Krueger’s theme tune is slow paced and has he sound of a creepy woman wailing in the background.

Most Horror music creates an eerie atmosphere, mainly through the use of instruments such as the piano, which has both of a high and low pitched film to it, which Is usually used to make a twisted eerie sound.
