Language is crucial instrument for human being both in

everydaycommunication.In communication there aretwo kinds of language, they

are formaland informal language. People use the formal language when they are in

formal situation, and they will use informal language when they are in informal

situation. Basically, to determine a context is using a variety of formal orinformal

can be seen from the selected of vocabulary. One characteristic of informal

languages is the use of slang language. Slang is an informal words or phrases and

expressions that are not used in general. Slang language can be used in the daily

conversation especially in the informal situation, in the song lyrics, in the poem,

movie subtitle and other. In this case the writer would like to analyze the use of

slang in the song lyrics.

The formulation of research problems are: 1) what are

thecharacteristics of slang used in Black Eyed Peas’ in The E.N.D album, 2) what

are the meanings of slang found in Black Eyed Peas’ in “The E.N.D album.

The purpose of this study were: 1) To know the characteristics of

slang used in Black Eyed Peas’ in“The E.N.D album” 2) To find out the meaning

of slang found in Black Eyed Peas’ in“The E.N.D album’’.

Research Method: 1) the research design in this study was library

research with qualitative approach 2) the data source of this research was the

Black Eyed Peas in the E.N.D album 3) the technique of data collection of this

research was documentation, 4) the step of data analysis were: collecting Black

Eyed Peas’song, selecting Black Eyed Peas’song, reading and understanding the

lyric, identifying, noting down the data and clasifying them.

The first result of this study showed that there are four characteristic

of slang used in Black Eyed Peas, they are (a) creativity, (b) flippant, (c)

fresh, (d) Onomatopoeic. Fresh is dominant in this Black Eyed Peas’ in

The E.N.D album. There are 20 words consist of fresh. Further, 16 words

that consist of creativity, 7 words for flippant, and the last is 3 words

consist of onomatopoetic. The second finding is the meaning of slang

language in Black Eyed Peas’ in The E.N.D album. Learn and understand

the meaning of language, especially slang, many provide something interesting

about communication. Many others out there booing a language but do not know

what the group stated. By studying this slang, the writer became aware of the

importance of understanding the taboo language. Using slang going to make your

English much more diverse and even a little more interesting.

Bahasa merupakan instrumen penting bagi manusia dalam komunikasi

sehari-hari. Dalam komunikasi ada dua macam bahasa, yakni bahasa formal dan

informal. Orang menggunakan bahasa formal ketika mereka berada dalam situasi

formal, dan mereka akan menggunakan bahasa informal ketika mereka berada

dalam situasi informal. Pada dasarnya, untuk menentukan sebuah konteks yaitu

dengan menggunakan berbagai variasi bahasa, baik secara formal maupun

informal dimana dapat dilihat dari pemilihan kosakata. Salah satu ciri dari bahasa

slang adalah penggunaan bahasa gaul. Slang adalah sebuah kata-kata tidak resmi

atau frase dan ekspresi yang tidak digunakan secara umum. Bahasa gaul dapat

digunakan dalam percakapan sehari-hari terutama dalam situasi informal, lirik

lagu, dalam puisi, terjemahan film dan lainnya. Dalam hal ini penulis ingin

menganalisis penggunaan bahasa gaul dalam lirik lagu.

Rumusan masalah penelitian ini adalah: 1) karakteristik bahasa slang

apa saja yang digunakan oleh Black Eyed Peas ' di dalam album The E.N.D, 2)

apa arti dari bahasa slang yang terdapat di lagu Black Eyed Peas' dalam album

The E.N.D.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) Untuk mengetahui karakteristik

dari slang yang digunakan oleh Black Eyed Peas 'di dalam album The E.N.D, 2)

Untuk mengetahui arti dari bahasa slang yang terdapat di lagu Black Eyed Peas'

dalam album The E.N.D.

Metode penelitian: 1) desain penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah

penelitian kepustakaan dengan pendekatan kualitatif 2) sumber data penelitian ini

adalah Black Eyed Peas di album The E.N.D 3) teknik pengumpulan data

penelitian ini adalah dokumentasi, 4) langkah analisis data: mengumpulkan lagu

Black Eyed Peas, memilih lagu Black Eyed Peas, membaca dan memahami lirik,

mengidentifikasi, mencatat data dan mengklasifikasi data menurut karakteristik

dan makna dari bahasa slang tersebut.

Hasil pertama dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada empat

karakteristik slang yang digunakan oleh Black Eyed Peas, diantaranya adalah (a)

creativity, (b) flippant, (c) fresh, (d) onomatopoetic. Fresh lah yang mendominasi

karakteristik tersebut dalam Black Eyed Peas 'di album The E.N.D. Ada 20 kata

termasuk karakteristik dari Fresh. Selanjutnya, 16 kata-kata yang termasuk dari

creativity, 7 kata untuk flippant, dan yang terakhir adalah 3 kata termasuk dari

onomatopoetic. Hasil yang kedua adalah makna bahasa slang yang terdapat di

Black Eyed Peas' dalam album The E.N.D. Belajar dan memahami arti bahasa,

terutama bahasa slang, banyak memberikan sesuatu yang menarik tentang sebuah

komunikasi. Banyak orang lain di luar sana yang mencemooh akan sebuah bahasa

namun tidak tahu atau memahami apa yang kelompok itu katakan. Dengan

mempelajari bahasa slang ini, penulis menyadari betapa beragamnya sebuah

bahasa khususnya memahami arti dari bahasa (yang dianggap) tabu tersebut.

Menggunakan bahasa slang membuat bahasa Inggris anda jauh lebih beragam

bahkan sedikit lebih menarik dari pada umumnya.
