Advice

Dear Customer,

If you have not received a device-spe-

cific security code for your car radio,

your vehicle is fitted with a comfort

coding system for which you do not

require a code. If the battery has been

disconnected and then reconnected,

you must first switch on the ignition

with the key in the ignition lock before

you switch on the radio. If neverthe-

less you wish to have a code, please

contact your Škoda service partner or

importer.

The appliance complies with the EMC

safety requirements (EEC guideline

89/336EEC and 93/68/EEC) in accor-

dance with Standards EN 55013 and

EN 55020.

Important advice

Warning!!!

Please ensure that when driving a

vehicle you always prioritize concen-

trating your attention on the traffic!!!

Today’s demanding traffic conditions

always require your full attention be con-

centrated on other road users.

The comprehensive equipment details of

modern car radios, in addition to the host

of entertainment possibilities, also provi-

de a wide variety of information on traffic

and weather conditions, etc.

Please ensure that you only operate

the car radio when the traffic conditi-

ons really permit it.

Please heed the following tips!!!

• Familiarize yourself with the extensive

functions of your car radio before star-

ting your journey by referring as neces-

sary to the operating instructions.

• Please make any more extensive

adjustments, for instance in the Setup

menu, which are required as a rule only

once or rarely, before starting your jour-

ney and with the vehicle stationary.

• If any ambiguities regarding the car

radio’s functions and/or any unforesee-

able effects should arise while driving,

clarify them as necessary using the

operating instructions when the vehicle

is stationary.

• Select the volume in the vehicle so that

you can still be aware of acoustic

signals from the outside the vehicle at

all times

Comfort radio codingYour car radio is fitted with a device-spe-

cific Security code. You only need to

enter the code when you first set up the

radio in the vehicle. After the initial entry

of the code number, the radio “acquaints

itself” with its vehicle. You therefore do

not need to enter the code number again

if the on-board voltage is interrupted. The

radio checks the vehicle data automati-

cally when switched on by switching on

the ignition. Only if the radio establishes

that it is in another vehicle will the code

number need to be entered again.

If you have not received a device-spe-

cific security code for your car radio,

your vehicle is fitted with a comfort

coding system for which you do not

require a code. If the battery has been

disconnected and then reconnected,

you must first switch on the ignition

with the key in the ignition lock before

you switch on the radio. If neverthe-

less you wish to have a code, please

contact your Škoda service partner or

importer.

The code number should not be car-

ried in the vehicle but kept in a safe

place at home.

Because the radio will not operate unless

the corresponding code is entered, it is

useless to steal it and this provides pro-

tection against theft.

Range selection

Your car radio is equipped with an FM and

AM receiver. There are 6 pre-sets availa-

ble in each case in the FM bands FM1 and

FM2 and the same in the AM bands AM1

and AM2. The selected range is shown on

the display at position .

When browsing in the AM band, the LW

and MW bands are successively searched

for stations.

Change-over AM - FM:

• A long press on the AM/FM button

switches your radio between the AM

and FM bands. In both bands, the radio

will set itself to the last station listened

to in the respective band.

Change-over FM1 - FM2

(Message displayed = FM):

• A short press on the AM/FM button

enables you to switch between the FM1

(pre-sets 1 to 6) and FM2 ranges (pre-

sets 7 to 12). In both ranges, the radio

will set itself to the last station listened to

in the respective range.

Change-over AM1 - AM2

(Message displayed = AM):

• A short press on the AM/FM button

enables you to switch between the AM1

and AM2 ranges. In both ranges, the

radio will set itself to the last station liste-

ned to in the respective range.

Switching traffic announcements

on / off

(Message displayed = TP):

• A short press on the TP button swit-

ches you to the TP (Traffic Programme)

band and sets the radio ready to recei-

ve traffic announcements, possibly with

higher speaker volume on or off.. The

display shows a TP symbol to indi-

cate that the system is ready to receive.

These messages also break in when the

CD is playing. After playing the traffic

announcement, the radio returns to the

previous mode. When a traffic announce-

ment breaks in, this is indicated by “INFO

PRGNAME” on the display. If the pro-

gramme set can no longer receive traffic

announcements, this is indicated by “NO

TP” on the display.

The radio now automatically seeks the

next programme with traffic announce-

ments, which it can receive clearly. The

message "TP SEEK” is displayed.

If you do not wish to receive traffic

announcements, press the TP button

to switch off the TP function.

Via the station buttons

• A short press on a station button

sets the stored programme. The selec-

ted station is indicated on the display

.

Browsing

• A short press on the or

button initiates searching in the

selected direction. The radio now seeks

the next programme receivable in the

set band: FM or AM.

Manual tuning

• Turn the right-hand knob in the

clockwise direction to tune to a higher

frequency or counterclockwise for a

lower frequency.

Scan

• A short press on the right-hand knob

briefly plays all the receivable program-

mes in the set range one after another.

Pressing the knob again terminates this

function and the current programme

remains set.

Storing

You can store a maximum of 24 program-

mes using the six station buttons in the

respective ranges:

AM1 + AM2 range = 12 programmes

FM1 + FM2 range = 12 programmes

The stored programmes can be called up

by pressing the appropriate station button

Storing manually

• A longer press on the desired station

button stored the set programme on

the appropriate memory pre-set in the

set range: AM1, AM2, FM1 or FM2.

If you have activated "BEEP” in the

Setup menu, there will be an audible

beep when the radio’s memory ack-

nowledges the setting. The stored pro-

gramme can now be called up whenever

desired by pressing the corresponding

station button .

Storing automatically(only applies to the AM2 and FM2ranges)

• A longer press on the AS button

RDS functions

RDS (Radio Data System) shows the

names of the programmes being received

.

While you are driving, RDS automatically

takes over the function of searching for

alternative frequencies for the set pro-

gramme and making the necessary

adjustments to ensure the best possible

reception within a transmission area, even

under unfavourable conditions.

Storing RDS programmes

When storing RDS programmes, the

appropriate station button should only be

pressed when the programme name is

shown on the display. This ensures to a

large extent that all the RDS data are

evaluated and can be stored.

Also ensure, when storing, that no "scrol-

ling text" is being shown on the display,

otherwise this is stored instead of the

programme name.

When a stored RDS programme is called

up, the appropriate programme name

appears on the display.

If the stored frequency cannot be recei-

ved clearly, the radio automatically

selects an alternative frequency for the

same program (Best Station function).

General advice

When the conditions are unfavourable

conditions, e.g. on mountainous stret-

ches, the radio checks the alternative fre-

quencies very often. This can result in

momentary interruptions to the sound.

How RDS works

With RDS, in addition to the normal radio

signal an inaudible digital data stream is

also transmitted. This data stream con-

tains, among other things, the following

data:

Programme identification (PI code):

The radio recognizes the programme

being received from the PI code.

Programme service name (PS code):

The PS code provides the name to be

shown on the display . Via the PS

code, some programmes also provide

additional information to be shown on the

display.

Alternative frequencies (AF list):

A programme is usually broadcast by

several transmitters on different frequen-

cies. The AF list contains the relevant fre-

quencies to which the receiver can be set

in order to receive the programme.

Traffic programme identification (Traffic

Programme = TP; message on the

display):

The identification for a programme with

traffic information.

Traffic announcement identification (TA =

Traffic Announcement):

The radio recognizes a traffic message

from the TA code. If necessary, the radio’s

volume is now raised and CD mode is

interrupted.

EON (Enhanced information Concerning

Other networks)

Programmes that use EON, pick up traffic

messages from other programmes. During

the message, the name of the other pro-

gramme is displayed.14

Security code

When the radio is switched off and the

key has been removed from the ignition,

the anti-theft system is activated. This

electronically prevents the radio from

being operated by unauthorized persons

in another vehicle.

If you have not received a device-specific

security code for your car radio, your

vehicle is fitted with a comfort coding

system for which you do not require a

code. If the battery has been disconnec-

ted and then reconnected, you must first

switch on the ignition with the key in the

ignition lock before you switch on the

radio. If nevertheless you wish to have a

code, please contact your service partner

or importer.

Comfort radio coding

When the radio is used for the first time,

the comfort coding stores the code num-

ber not only in the radio but also in the

vehicle.

Now, if the on-board voltage supply to

your vehicle is interrupted, when you next

switch on the radio it compares the inter-

nal number with the number in the vehi-

cle.

If these two numbers match, the radio is

immediately available for unrestricted

use. The code number is only requested

if the numbers do not match.

The code number should not be car-

ried in the vehicle but kept in a safe

place at home. Only then will the radio

be useless for a thief to steal.

Removing the electronic loc

Take the following steps, keep to the cor-

rect sequence and enter the correct code

number as quickly as possible. Please

also refer to page 4 “Comfort radio

coding”.

• Switch the radio on. “SAFE” is shown

on the display.

• After approximately 3 seconds “1000”

appears on the display.

• Now use station button 1 to enterthe first digit of the code number

• Repeat the procedure using station but-ton 2 for the second digit of thecode number, station button 3 for thethird digit, and so on until you haveentered the complete code number.

• Confirm the entry with a long press onstation button 6. The radio is nowready for use.

Wrong code number

If you inadvertently confirm the wrong

code number, the message “SAFE” flas-

hes on the display. After a few seconds

“1000” is displayed again. Now enter the

security code again as described above.

If a wrong code number is confirmed

again the radio is now locked for approxi-

mately an hour.

time the radio must remain switched on,

you can again enter the code number, as

described above.

This cycle continues until the correct

code number has been entered.

ber, please contact your service part-

ner or importer.

Multi-function steering wheel (MFL)

If your vehicle is equipped with a multi-

function steering wheel (MFL) as an opti-

on, some of the radio’s functions can also

be operated from the buttons on this

steering wheel.

Depending on the version of the wheel,

the following buttons are available.

VOL+, VOL- button

Press these buttons to set the volume to

the desired level between Volume 0 and

Volume 45.

or

Pressing these buttons when in Radio

mode, calls up the next higher or lower

station in the set range. Station 1 follows

station 6 and station 6 follows station 1 in

the reverse direction.

In CD mode, pressing these buttons

moves you respectively forward to the

next title or back to the preceding title.

 button

Pressing the button briefly initiates

browsing in Radio mode. The radio now

seeks the next receivable programme in

the set range: FM, AM or TP.

In CD mode, pressing the button

briefly selects the next CD. Holding down

the button starts a forwards search.
