Our commitment to Skills to SucceedSkills to Succeed focuses on advancing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in both mature and emerging markets. By 2015, we plan to equip 500,000 people around the world with the skills to get a job or build a business. Skills are a key driver of economic empowerment for individuals and communities alike, and the need is greater than ever to have the right skills to build capabilities and confidence that will open doors to employment across both mature and emerging markets. Our Skills to Succeed goal reflects our focused commitment to making a sustainable, measurable difference to the communities in which we live and work.

In 2010, Accenture and the Accenture Foundations committed to contribute more than US$100 million by the end of 2013 to support our corporate citizenship efforts. In fiscal 2012, we contributed cash as well as pro bono contributions of time and Accenture employee skills equivalent to US$53.5 million to support our corporate citizenship efforts, including Skills to Succeed, bringing total contributions since 2010 to US$98 million.

To achieve our Skills to Succeed goal we collaborate with strategic partners, such as YBI, who share our passion for building skills, operate globally but with a local footprint, and understand the importance of delivering measurable impact.

A shared belief in the power of skillsAccenture has worked with YBI since its inception, and our relationship has developed significantly over the last few years. Today, it is a multi-faceted collaboration that is helping the YBI network increase the number of young entrepreneurs it supports. YBI’s network members are providing budding entrepreneurs with access to business mentoring, training and capital, helping to hone their business skills and build their small enterprises.Accenture acts as an advisor and partner to YBI, providing both funding and the time and skills of our employees to guide its strategic development. To date, Accenture and the Accenture Foundations have awarded the organization and its country members more than US$10 million in both cash and pro bono services. Our initiatives are currently active in nine countries, and we have plans to more than double that footprint in 2014. Accenture also supports the expansion of YBI’s network and its goal of helping 100,000 young entrepreneurs annually by 2020.

Through our support, YBI and its members have equipped almost 45,000 young entrepreneurs with skills, access to finance and the mentoring needed to build and sustain their businesses, and we hope to reach an additional 30,000 by 2015.

Driving impact through YBI’s global networkWe are working around the world to help YBI’s network of members improve their capacity to support young entrepreneurs with skill-building initiatives. For example:• In Brazil, Accenture people are supporting

and mentoring entrepreneurs and bringing employment skills and opportunities to the disadvantaged with Conexão. In 2013, Accenture and the Accenture Foundations awarded Conexão a grant of US$3.3 million to help the organization expand its efforts. The three-year grant will help Conexão provide vocational skills for an additional 20,900 young people. Accenture’s direct support to Conexão has been more than US$6.5 million since 2007. Conexão has since trained more than 25,000 young people from seven of Brazil’s main cities in job readiness and entrepreneurial skills. Approximately 9,000 of these trainees have entered the workforce, and more than 300 have started or developed a business.

• In Canada, Accenture is helping the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) to improve its mentoring capabilities for young entrepreneurs and build sustainable businesses across the country. A US$420,000 grant from the Accenture Foundations helped CYBF mentor more than 1,600 entrepreneurs and enhance the skills of almost 5,000 existing and new mentors. A new round

of funding from Accenture, secured through YBI, will expand this program to provide skill-building opportunities to a further 1,500 entrepreneurs and 2,000 mentors. We also helped CYBF develop a five-year strategic plan, aimed at increasing the number of young entrepreneur start-ups that can be supported each year.

• In the UK, Accenture is a long-term supporter of The Prince’s Trust, another YBI member. With Accenture’s support, in the last three years alone, The Prince’s Trust has helped more than 6,300 young people gain the skills and confidence to move into work, training, or start a business. Of these young people, more than 90 have gone on to set up a business of their own.

Partnering for future successTraining talent is one of Accenture’s core competencies, and developing people to achieve higher levels of performance has long been our hallmark. By working with strategic partners such as YBI, we can increase marketplace competitiveness and economic resilience, build sustainable businesses and create employment opportunities that make a substantive, meaningful and sustainable difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.
