Welcome to Sketch 3 Welcome to Sketch 3Learn about the basic tools and features below. Learn about the basic tools and features below.
The User InterfaceSketchs UI is split into four basic sections. A toolbar along the top, a layer list on the left, a large canvas
for drawing in the middle, and an inspector on the right for changing and editing values.
From Shapes to Symbols, they can all be inserted onto the canvas via the Insert menu.
Filtering between Slices and Layers will help you organize
your layer list with ease.
Here is where you can create Symbols, and apply Layer and
Text Styles for reuse.
SymbolsSymbols is one of the brand new features in Sketch 3.0 and it allows you to re-use Groups, Layer and
Text Styles in your document. Once added, simply insert them via Insert > Symbol in the toolbar.
Group SymbolsGroup Symbols allow you to store and re-use any groups that have been saved. Across Pages, and across Artboards.

Vector Shapes and Boolean OpsAll shapes in Sketch are based on Vectors. Because of this, you can edit and resize objects while maintaining their sharpness. Boolean Operations allow us to make complex shapes with ease by
combining two or more shapes in a non-destructive manner so they can be edited.

Slices and ExportingGetting your assets out of Sketch is a cinch with our advanced slice tool. Simply create a Slice and
export it to any industry-standard vector or bitmap format at any scale imaginable.
Once youve set up your Slices, you can export everything with the Export toolbar icon on the right!
Export individual layers and groups in Sketch by simply pressing Make Exportable at the bottom of the Inspector. A slice icon ( ) will be added to the layer list to remind you what layers you can export.
You can also draw Slices onto the Canvas via the Insert toolbar button, or by simply pressing S on your keyboard. With a selected slice, you can add multiple filetypes and scales to export at different sizes.
