Initial size reduction of bulky foods such as cheese and frozen blocks of meat, juices, fruits and vegetables.

Stainless steel hoppers accept up to 125 pound frozen meat blocks without orientation and 500 pound drums of other products. Particle size is controlled through interchangeable orifice plates. Develops high torque at slow speed for quiet operation, and low product temperature rise. No knives to sharpen. Stainless steel construction and full accessibility of all interior parts allow ease of cleaning to meet the rigid sanitation standards for food plants.

PUMPING OF FRAGILE FOODS For pumping foods with pieces up to one inch in size.

RIETZ/GRACE FOOD PUMP

Working like a squeegee, the impeller cleanly and gently pushes the food ahead of it to the discharge port. This design does away with the roller-mill-nip-action that always crushes some food particles in pumps with rounded rotors. Constructed of stainless steel and selected, approved plastics, the Rietz/Grace Pump is crevice-free, designed and finished to meet all requirements for fully hygienic food handling.

APPLICATIONS

Examples of foods that can be safely transported by sanitary Rietz/Grace Pumps include:

Meatballs, chunks and dices; • Vegetables including diced tomatoes and leafy mixes in liquids; • Fruit pie fillings, desserts, candies with fruit or nuts; • Salads, raviolis, snack foods, dips and similar convenience foods for varied types of packing; • Pickles, relishes, chutneys and other condiments containing pieces that must be kept whole and undamaged.

HEAT EXCHANGE Heating or Cooling of Meats and a Variety of Fruits and Vegetables

THERMASCREWS TJ Series Heat transfer medium circulates through screw, flights and jacketed trough, for continous opera-tion with minimum floor space requirements.

Handles slurries containing solids without damage to product. All product contact parts are of sanitary stainless steel construction. Heat exchange media include high pressure steam, water, refrigerants and hot oil. Available for pressure or vacuum operation, and in intermeshing, multiple screw units. Standard screw diameters from 8" to 24" — larger diameters on special order.

fruits and vegetables with high pectin and starch content, and foods that "pack" under pressure.

Press liquor from the three stages of pressing can be collected separately.

High yields are attained from patented "Creeping Cushion Cone" design that overcomes tendency of many products to "channel" and discharge before pressing is fully completed. Liquid is drained through 360° of the cone.

Rietz cushion cone, rotating at a different RPM than the screw, assures maximum liquid removal, by pre-venting press cake from obstructing the discharge area.

The air cylinder assures constant pressure on the cone — even at varying feed rate and liquid content —yielding a cake with controlled moisture content.
