A message from the Director of Post-16 Learning:

As we approach the end of a busy academic year and reflect on the

progress of planning the new sixth form, I am delighted by the clear

interest shown by many of our students and parents for this exciting new

development for school. Recent events such as the open evening, the one-

to-one career and post 16 choice interviews and A level taster days have

added to the overall picture. In addition, the new sixth form prospectus

outlines what to expect in the sixth form both academically and beyond

the classroom and as a result, there is an extremely positive feel about thesixth form through the whole school community.

Our year 10 students are now completing their work experience and they will return in September as year

11s, ready to face one of the most important years in their school career. The new school year promises a

busy first term with our second open evening focusing on life in the sixth form and a full A level taster day

on 8thOctober followed by career and subject choice interviews. We hope all our students will be able to

make informed decisions on their post 16 education based on the advice and guidance that Christ's has

given, coupled with their own research into future possibilities. Applications to Christ's Sixth Form are now

open and can be accessed via the sixth form section of the website under admissions. Matt Morris

An informative first Open Evening for Christ's Sixth Form

Our first sixth form open evening was a great success. Parents had the opportunity to discuss sixth form

subjects with subject staff and talk to the panel of four experts to get guidance on how to choose the right A

levels, university applications, Cambridge and Oxford advice and career pathways. Our new head boy, Will

Imber-Coxhead, and new head girl, Hanna Stephenson, spoke about the growing interest in the new sixth

form and students enthusiasm for the plans. Parents who attended were given both the new sixth form

prospectus and course directory. The course directory includes all relevant information about each subject

we are offering in the sixth form.An electronic version of thesixth form prospectus and the course directory are also

available on the website. Hard copies can be obtained from

    school.

The feedback on the evening from both parents and students

was very positive. In particular, many of those who attended

felt they had got very useful advice and guidance that will

    inform post 16 subject choices.

Our next event on OCTOBER 8th willfocus on sixth form

life, enrichment opportunities, building updates and

devopments and there will be another chance to discuss

courses with subject staff. More details will follow in

    September.
