•Date: 27 August 2007 = D+120– 6 Months from planning period in Singapore– CTF Forces arrived in AOR between D-14 and D+8

– Operations started on 30 April (D-Day)

•Locations: – CTF HQ, Salt Lake City Airport, Kuhistan– CFACC HQ, Salt Lake City Airport, Kuhistan– CFMCC HQ, Port of Salt Lake City, Kuhistan– CMCoord, Salt Lake City, Kuhistan– CFLCC HQ, Delta Kuhistan

MAJOR EVENTS

•Tango Peace Accords signed on 12 May, 2007– Kuhistan and Sonora are parties to accord– Includes establishment of a Zone of Separation - Temporary Security Zone scheme and follow-on UN Peacekeeping force

•Kuhistan forces pulled back from border areas by 31 July, as directed by Tango Accords

•Sonoran forces withdrew from occupied Kuhistani territory by 10 July, and moved to areas in Sonora directed by Tango Accords by 31 July

•Bottom-line: By 31 July, forces of both parties were outside of Zone of Separation - Temporary Security Zone as directed by Tango Accords

MAJOR EVENTS: CTF-KUH

•No major combat since D-Day

•2 x minor combat incidents between CTF forces and KUH Army, near Panaca, Kuhistan– 14 May 07– 1 x CTF KIA– 3 x CTF WIA– 8 x Kuhistani Army KIA

•2 x maritime incidents–KUH Navy fired on CTF ships assuming they were smuggling vessels

•No air incidents

•Northern Kuhistan–25 August 2007 Spokane River Flooding

Flood occurred 0230 on 25 August, 2007 (D+118)

Areas flooded:Spokane River Camp – 20,000 population affected

Spokane River 2 Camp – 25,000 population affected

Spokane city riverfront areas – estimated at 5,000 residents affected

85% vulnerable groupsEstimated 400 dead; approx. 650 missing

HUMANITARIAN OPERATIONS

•Northern Kuhistan [continued]–25 August 2007 Spokane River Flood Response plan:

Use of Spokane IDP Camp for temporary accommodation

Has capacity to accommodate additional 1,500 persons with present reserves

Plans to set up second camp near Spokane IDP Camp

–Cluster lead situational brief on the current operations at 0845

RECENT EVENTS (CBRN)

–Incident 1: 23 Aug, 2007 D+116 –KFC Announces Biological Warfare Threat–A KFC tape delivered to TV station KSL in Salt Lake City KUH–Announces that KFC will be using food-borne diseases to attack “their enemies” in Kuhistan

The Kuhistan military Those supporting the Kuhistan nuclear plant in Provo

–Probably use salmonella but also botulism, other diseases –Announced that attacks have already begun (some food supplies are already contaminated)

–27 Aug 2007, Kuhistan government requests CTF assistance: Testing food Being prepared to test people for diagnosis Being prepared to manage the consequences

RECENT EVENTS (CBRN)

–Incident 2: 27 Aug, 2007 D+120 (0700)–A hijacked phosgene tanker truck explodes in the center of Boise KUH, upwind of the Kuhistan National Government center

–Police report “large numbers of casualties,” number uncertain

Likely several hundred hospitalized, half will die No CTF forces in area KFC is assumed to be culprits

–Kuhistan government asks CTF for decontamination and medical assistance

–Kuhistan government is furious that this attack was not prevented

Announced it is changing security in its major cities

This change could in make CTF operations more complicated
