Restricted Access Methods (dependent upon type/profile)Any access method

    appearing belowMedia Search are

    dependent upon the

    users type and

profile set up bytheir SIS Web

    coordinator. The

    links to these

methods do notappear if they are

    not in the users

    assigned type or

    profile.

    These methods are

    covered in another

    lesson.

    Structure AccessesTwo common

    methods to finddocuments are:

    Product Structure

    Document Structure

    Both require a

    Product ID and they

    follow differentpaths to display the

    same document

    links.

The best method to usevaries with the

    Information Type, the

    users experience, and

    the users preference.

    Product StructureA s/n prefixof 9TZ

    is specified and theProduct Structure

    Access Methodlink

    is selected using

    the standard 9TZequipment

    configuration.

    The structuralcomponents are

    displayed; this first

    column is the

primary filter of thenext column of

    Information Types.

    The Engine and

    Related Systems topicis automatically

    expanded one level.

    the two links to

    Service Letter

    documents aboutthe Fuel Injection

    Product StructureNote in this

    example, that theInformation Types

    at the Fuel System

    level (top) differ

    from thoseavailable for the

    Lines Gp (below).

    Both link to the

    same Service Letterdocument; but, the

    Lines Group also

    links to a more

    specific ServiceLetter.

    Be aware of these

    similarities anddifferences when

searching. End of this section: Return to Structure Accesses

Product Vs. Document StructureIf you know a

    document isassociated with a

    specific

    component, using

    Product Structuremay be simpler as

    only the associated

    information types

    are displayed.Selecting the

    Information Type

    then displays

    choices limited tothe chosen

    structure

    component.

Product Vs. Document StructureChecking for Truck

    Engine News,Engine News and

    Service Magazines

    is difficult using

    DocumentStructure as only

    the publication

    dates are displayed

until a date isselected. If you

    know the

    associated Product

    Structurecomponent, use

    Product Structure

    to view easier the

    titles of theseInformation Types.

    the DocumentStructure Access

    Methodbecause it

    allows using the Go

    To drop-downmenu to select

    Product Structure.

    This displays the

    location of thesame document

    links within the
