Sisterlocks Online Refresher Course

The purpose of the Online Refresher

0 The Sisterlocks Online Refresher Course is intended to provide “Active” and “Inactive” Consultants and Trainees with a convenient way to test, prove and improve their knowledge base for doing Sisterlocks on clients.

0 The Online Refresher is NOT intended for individuals needing hands-on coaching in any of the Sisterlocks techniques. For that we recommend the 4-Day Refresher classes. These are offered wherever the regular Sisterlocks trainings are held throughout the year.

#1 - Check your Eligibility

0 Have you completed the official Sisterlocks 4-Day Consultant Training class? OK! Whether you are “active” or “inactive,” you are eligible to take the Online Refresher.

0 Are you prepared to sign a legally binding Trademark Agreement Form indicating that you will offer the Sisterlocks system to clients as it was taught to you, and in no other way?

0 Do you have the Workbook and Portfolio that were originally provided to you in class? (You may purchase these from Sisterlocks.)

#2 - Verify your status with the Home Office

0 Before you enroll in the actual Sisterlocks Online Refresher Course, make sure that your status is updated and accurate with the Home Office.

0 Verify that any and all web listings are accurate. Provide us with updated information if applicable.

0 Make sure to clear any outstanding bills or payments.

#3 - A Note for “Active” Consultants and Trainees

0 Anyone with “Active” status is invited to enroll in this course to test skill levels, and mastery of Sisterlocks concepts and vocabulary.

0 Pay Online Refresher course fee only ($150). There is no

need to pre-pay any Certification or Recertification fees.

0 Coursework will be graded but the scores will have no bearing on the Consultant or Trainee certification status or web listing.

#4 - A Note for “Inactive” Consultants and Trainees

0 In the case of “Inactive” Consultants and Trainees, the Online Refresher (like the 4-Day Refresher) is the first step in the reinstatement of the “Active” status.

0 The second step is to submit the Certification or Recertification packet.

0 You must pass the Refresher class BEFORE you submit your paperwork for Certification or Recertification. (Same requirement if you take the 4-Day Refresher.)

#5 – Your Preparation: Workbook Review

0 Thoroughly review your Student Workbook, along with any notes you might have taken in class.

0 Review the Teaching and Learning Objectives at the beginning of each lesson.

0 Go over the Review frames that reinforce the concepts covered in the lessons.

0 Thoroughly review the Glossary terms for each lesson by learning the definitions/explanations provided at the end of the lesson pages in the workbook.

#6 – Your Preparation: Review Workbook Appendix 0 We also recommend that you study the graphics

included in the Appendix section of the Workbook. 0 Make sure you understand the purpose of the graphics

0 Practice explaining each graphic using Sisterlocks terminology.

0 Make sure you review all Printed Materials in the Appendix section of your Workbook.

0 Be clear on how the Sisterlocks Package is to be delivered.

0 Make sure you are clear on the Certification Requirements.

0 Review all details on the pre-education of clients.

#7 – Your Preparation: Consultation Portfolio

0 Review your Consultation Portfolio.

0 Make sure you can discuss each picture without reading the prompts on the black and white pages.

0 about how the Consultation Portfolio is integrated into your Sisterlocks Consultation.

0 Also consider what other props and materials are needed to deliver an effective consultation.

#8 - Be Prepared for the Costs

0 Here are some things you should be clear on: 0 Enrollment in the Online Refresher alone is $150. (This is the

entire cost for “Active” Consultants and Trainees.

0 If you are “Inactive” you must also pre-pay your Certification or Recertification fee ($125 or $150) at the time you enroll in this Online Refresher course.

0 If you have been “Inactive” for more than 6-months there is an additional $50 late filing fee, also payable upon enrolling.

0 If you are “Inactive” you must pass the Refresher class BEFORE you submit your paperwork for Certification or Recertification. (Same requirement if you take the 4-Day Refresher.)

#9 – Courtesy Extensions (Inactive Consultants/Trainees)

Once you enroll in the Refresher and pay all fees you may request a Courtesy Extension for up to 6-months. During this period, you may be restored to the website and have access to tool purchases.

o If the Refresher is not completed by the Extension cut-off date, you will forfeit your non-refundable ($150) course enrollment fee and must re-enroll in the Refresher to continue the process.

o If you complete the Refresher by the cut-off date, but do NOT submit all Certification paperwork, you must pay an additional $50 late filing fee to continue with the certification process. This will extend your Courtesy Extension an additional 6 months. After this time, all certification fees will be forfeited, and you will return to “Inactive” status.

#10 - Next Steps:

0 Think you’re ready? Take the quiz activity in the next section of this Prep to be sure.

0 Then proceed to the final section of the Prep titled, “Start Your Enrollment Here.”

Important Note: Taking the Online Refresher Course does NOT guarantee Certification or Recertification, which are submitted and

evaluated separately, and subject to core standards such as appropriate sectioning, parting and lock sizes; proper hair analysis and choice of locking pattern; and the effective delivery of the Sisterlocks Package.
