opin- ion on the part of a larger number of professional speculators to the view that for some cause or other which if not citayly understood waa yet making Its power abundantly apparent and prices were moving In a steady and sustained way to higher v l Doubtless observers of the class were impressed more than by any ther fact by the obvious circumstance the floating supply of stocks In the market had become very considerably re- duced and that effort to buy any large quantity of stock even in an active issue compelled higher totd therefor Odd Lots Taken For this one highly probable explanation Is that the volume of securities purchased for investment in odd and otherwise In the sharp decline which culminated on February 8 is now shown by the event to have been much larger than
