GENERALSir Andrew Murray House is situated on the edge ofthe village of Strathyre in Stirlingshire in the LochLomond and the Trossachs National Park. Strathyrehas some local services (including a nearby PrimarySchool) and is only 9 miles from Callander. Callanderis one of the ‘gateways to the Highlands’ andprovides the everyday amenities expected of athriving town, including a post office, supermarkets,specialist food shops, florist, chemist, library and ahealth centre.

The town has excellent primary and secondaryschooling and The McLaren Leisure Centre offers agood range of sporting opportunities, including aswimming pool. Callander Golf Club lies to thenorth of the town and there is a sailing club to thewest, on nearby Loch Venachar. The River Teith isfamous for its trout and salmon fishing. The Rob RoyCentre is situated in Callander and other touristattractions nearby include cruises on the steamship,Sir Walter Scott, on Loch Katrine in the Trossachs,and Doune Castle.

The city of Stirling, 25 miles away, is the historic heartof Scotland, with Stirling Castle, Bannockburn andthe Wallace Monument just a few of the many sightsto visit in the local area.

Stirling is well placed for road, rail and busconnections to all the major towns in Scotland. Thepivot of the motorway network is only three miles tothe west of Stirling, giving quick access to Edinburghand Glasgow. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow Airportsare within easy reach. There is a wide range ofprivate schools within 40 miles of Callander,including Beaconhurst at Bridge of Allan, DollarAcademy, Strathallan, Morrison’s Academy, Ardvreck,Glenalmond and Kilgraston (girls only). StirlingUniversity is located in Bridge of Allan.

DESCRIPTIONSir Andrew Murray House was built by the Order ofSt John in 1979. Currently registered as a carehome, it has been used throughout as a holidayhome for the benefit of charities, organisations andindividuals. The property is situated in an elevatedposition, with a lovely aspect facing south-east overthe surrounding hills and countryside. The property
