SIPLACE Multi-Gripper Kit II– IntroductionThe SIPLACE Multi-Gripper Kit II allows you to assemble your own special grippers for fitting most exotic and large components.The SIPLACE Multi-Gripper Kit II is an expandable system. If you already have one, you can order all elements of the system individually in any quantity. Each element can be identified by its unique engraved type designation, making them easy to return them correctly into the case after use.If you need any special jaws or end stops which are not included in the SIPLACE Multi-Gripper Kit II, you can construct them yourself or have them made by us to your exact requirements.The case already includes space for additional gripper bases, jaws and end stops.
SIPLACE Multi-Gripper Kit II can be used on:
▪ F4 / F5 machines for up to 13 mm high SMD components.*)
▪ D1 / Di1 machines for up to 19 mm high SMD components.*)
▪ X / D3 / SX / XS machines for up to 23 mm high SMD components.*)*) calculated by the maximum Z distance on IC and TWIN placement heads respectively.

► Measure the component at the position you want to grip it.
► Add 1 mm space to the measured value so that the gripper is able to grip the component. Depending on the position accuracy of your component and the pocket size, this tolerance might be larger.
► Select the jaws in the table.

– Fitting the jaws
► Tighten the jaws to the gripper base hand tight.
Depending on the jaw type the two screws have to be outside (100 – 500) or inside (600 – 800).Attention:To be sure, take a look at the jaws. The engraved type designation must always be inside.Warning:Never remove the four screws of the gripper base, otherwise the gripper base might get damaged.Note:For long-term applications we recommend to tighten the screws with a torque wrench and a torque of 12 Ncm.Only use M1.6x4 mm screws for the gripper jaws. With longer screws the gripper clamps.

– How to select the matching end stop
To support the gripper, the component has to be braced by an end stop.The end stop needs to have the following characteristics:▪ Shape: The width of the end stop must be
smaller than the width of the component, otherwise the jaws will grip the end stop but not the component.
▪ Size: The end stop needs the correct height that the jaws can grip the component at the desired position.

Select:1. Shape A for long components.2. Shape B for short components.3. Shape C for slim short components.4. Shape D for frame type components.

► Find out the corresponding size of the end stop. (1)

– Fitting the end stop
► Tighten the end stop to the gripper base hand tight.
Attention:Make sure that the engraved type designation can be seen on the upper side of the end stop.Warning:Never remove the four screws of the gripper base, otherwise the gripper base might get damaged.Note:For long-term applications we recommend to tighten the screws with a torque wrench and a torque of 12 Ncm.Only use M1.6x5 mm screws for the end stops. Shorter screws cannot reliably fix the end stop!

– Checking the gripper
Before using the gripper on the line you have to check if the gripper really grips the desired component.► Put the component on the gripper.► Take a pair of tweezers and press the jaws
together strongly.► Turn the gripper upside down.
If the component remains within the gripper, the gripper can be used on the line.

– Ordering spare parts and programmingThe SIPLACE Multi-Gripper Kit II is an expandable system. All elements of this system and spare parts can be ordered.
For ordering gripper jaws or end stops, please have a look at the table on the supplemental sheet to get the item no.Example:You need some more end stops shape A size 3 for jaw type 300.► Have a look at the table: column bloc Shape A - line Jaw type 300 – size 3.0 (height 3mm) is A33
