Introduction OF COMPANY

Fiat S.p.A., an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino.(English: Italian

Automobile Factory of Turin), is an Italian automobile manufacturer, engine

manufacturer, financial and industrial group based in Turin in the Piedmont region.

Fiat was founded in 1899 by a group of investors including Giovanni Agnelli. Fiat

has also manufactured railroad vehicles, tanks and aircraft. As of 2009-10, Fiat is

the world's sixth largest carmaker as well as Italy's largest carmaker.

Fiat-based cars are constructed all around the world, with the largest number

produced outside Italy being built in Brazil, where they are best-sellers.

It also has factories in Argentina and Poland. Fiat has a long history of licensing its

products to other countries regardless of local political or cultural persuasion. Joint

venture operations are found in Italy, France, Turkey, India, Serbia and Russia.

The group's activities were initially focused on the industrial production of cars,

industrial and agricultural vehicles. Over time it has diversified into many other

fields, and the group now has activities in a wide range of sectors in industry and

worldwide operations, operating in 61 countries with 1,063 companies that employ

over 223,000 people, 111,000 of whom are outside Italy.

Fiat is the largest vehicle manufacturer in Italy, with a range of cars starting from

small Fiat city cars to sports cars made by Ferrari, and vans and trucks ranging

from the Ducato to Iveco commercial trucks. Besides Fiat Group Automobiles

S.p.A, the Fiat Group automotive companies include Ferrari S.p.A., Iveco S.p.A.

and Maserati S.p.A.

Basically this project relates with the packaging material and there

consumption. Which is very helpful to utilise the available space in

inbound area.

This project was divided in two parts which are as follows,

1) Give the locations to all type of card board boxes-

The main aim behind this project is to utilize the available

space in inbound area and to give the location to all type of card

board boxes as per there consumption. How these material can easily

carried from inbound area to outbound area when it is required. It

helps to the workers to minimise there picking time.It also helpful

for packaging dept. to know the consumption of different

dimenssional card board boxes.

2)Reorder level :-

There is typically a lag time between the point at which stock is ordered and

the time in which it is delivered. The reorder level of stock is often set at a

figure higher than zero to take this time period into account. Therefore, the

reorder level is set so that the stock level will reach at or around zero about

the time the next shipment of stock is anticipated to arrive.

Reorder Point = Lead Time x Demand per Day + Safety Level of Stock

Lead time - The amount of time between the placing of an order and the

receipt of the goods ordered.

The supplier of the packaging material is JSH Packaging,which is in Noida.

It takes 10 days to receive the conssignment after placing an order.

Therefore 10 days is a lead time which is there to receive stock.

Safety stock Safety stock ensures that the item is available up to the pre-

defined required service level, even when the re-ordered material arrives

later than expected, or the fluctuations in demand during the lead-time cause

the demand to be larger than expected.

As per the requirement of warehouse and packaging department the safety

stock level is [reorder point*0.5].

The working of reorder level done as follows,

Reorder point = (lead time) * (avg. daily consumption)

The main aim behind the project of Packaging development was to improve the

packaging of different parts & to reduce the damage to the parts. For Packaging

development the warehouse team had given their requirement list which is as

PROCESS FOR PACKAGING DEVELOPMENT: -

There are several steps which are followed for this project,

1) Identify the parts and supplier packing

First we have to identify the spare parts and its supplier packing. Develop the

packaging as per their size, shape, weight and MOQ. Whether the supplier

packing is sustainable or not..?? If it sustainable or not develop packaging as

per suppliers packaging and if its not then develop your own packaging

which is sustainable for spare part.

2) Study the existing packing

Study the existing packing of spare parts, is it sustainable or not? Is it cost

effective or not? Identify whether improvement are needed are not in

existing packing.

3) Receive inputs/ requirements-

Receive inputs from packaging section regarding with packing material.

What are their requirements for the existing packaging material?

4) Give Solution

Give the solution if it is better suits with the requirement and it is helping to

solve the problem.

5) Call supplier

Call the supplier to develop the packaging material, for parts which are

underdeveloped.

6) Sample test

After getting sample from supplier, there is stage of sample testing.

In sample testing we tested the sustainability of that material according to the

spare part.

7) Quotation on approval -

After sample testing of suppliers developed packing material. There is stage

of quotation approval, if the quotation is approved the purchasing process

will be there.

After getting the information on the list of parts provided by the Warehouse team,

we identified all the parts for different models & created entire list of these parts
