  • Announcing SIP Courses

This is to introduce SIP COURSES, a new educational opportunity from Sound Interpretation Project.

In Christian culture, we have learned to be rather casual about our biblical education. We hear sermons. We attend bible studies. And, typically, we expect to be vaguely entertained as we hope to acquire a more or less casual knowledge of the Bible in the process. Gaining a mastery of the message, teaching, and arguments of the biblical texts is something we neither seek nor attain.

Sound Interpretation Project intends to offer a different sort of educational opportunity. For anyone who wants to gain mastery in their knowledge of the Bible (or, at least, the New Testament), Sound Interpetation Project will begin offering SIP Courses this coming fall (Fall, 2014). SIP will offer one course this fall.

SIP Course #1: The Content of Biblical Philosophy, Part One: The Core Message and Worldview of the Bible

This coming winter, two more courses will be offered.

SIP Course #2: The Content of Biblical Philosophy, Part Two: Other Biblical Concepts and Teachings SIP Course #99a: Introduction to Understanding N.T. Greek, Part One]

And, then, next spring two further courses will be offered. SIP Course #72: Letters of John in English Translation SIP Course #99b: Introduction to Understanding N.T. Greek, Part Two

For a guide to all of the projected courses and earned awards available through SIP

Courses, see the attached. Note that SIP Course #99a, #99b, and #99c will be designed for people who are

interested in learning to interpret the Greek text of the New Testament but who do not want to take on the task of memorizing all that they would need to memorize in order to actually read the Greek New Testament.

The times for the courses above will be determined through a consensus of the students interested in the course. There is a refundable fee for each SIP Course. (For details see attached guide.)

You will notice that I have planned years into the future. All of this must be qualified by Lord willin and the creek dont rise. Also note that, at this point, this is an unrepeatable opportunity. It is doubtful that I will be able to repeat much (if any) of this.

If you are interested in taking the course this fall, please notify Jack Crabtree by September 19. You can email Jack at [email protected].

    A Comprehensive Guide

Sound Interpretation Project is committed to promoting a sound understanding of the Bible and its message. In pursuit of that mission, Sound Interpretation Project is proposing a program of courses called SIP Courses. SIP Courses will make possible a serious education for anyone interested in gaining a mastering of the Bible. The intention is that SIP Courses will offer a comprehensive series of courses in Biblical Philosophy and in the New Testament. Here is a catalogue of all the currently proposed course offerings of Sound Interpretation Projects SIP Courses:

    SIP Courses

All SIP courses require the student to put in work outside of class. There are three different kinds of course: lecture/discussion courses; apprenticeship courses; and seminar courses.

A lecture/discussion course involves lecture-style teaching in conjunction with discussion, conversation, and interaction about the material of the lecture. An apprenticeship course involves doing independent research or study under the supervision of the tutor and discussing ones findings with the tutor and other students during classtime. A seminar course involves studying and discussing assigned material and discussing it with the tutor and other students during classtime.
