“You’ll have fun, guaranteed!” - Cleveland, OH Concert Review

Thirty years and over twenty million albums into their career, there can be no doubt as to why The B-52s remain among the most beloved rock stars ever. Any mystery concerning the longevity and ongoing appeal of the band is immediately solved when exposed to a unique B-52s concert experience. From the timeless gems of “Rock Lobster,” “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho” to the more recent classics “Channel Z,” “Love Shack” and “Roam”, The B-52s unforgettable dance-rock tunes start a party every time their music begins.

Formed on an October night in 1976 following drinks at an Athens, GA Chinese restaurant, the band played their fi rst gig at a friend’s house on Valentine’s Day 1977. Naming themselves after Southern slang for exaggerated bouff ant hairdos, the newly-christened B-52s began weekend road trips to New York City for gigs at CBGB’s and a handful of other venues. Before long, their thrift store aesthetic and genre-defying songs were the talk of the post-punk underground. A record deal soon followed and their self-titled debut disc sold more than 500,000 copies on the strength of their fi rst singles, the garage rock party classic “Rock Lobster,” and “52 Girls.” The B-52s began to attract fans far beyond the punk clubs of the Lower East Side — galvanizing the pop world with their ‘stream-of-consciousness’ approach to songwriting and outrageous performance.

In 2008 The B-52s released their fi rst new album in 16 years, the aptly titled Funplex. With its primal guitar hooks, driving drums and The B-52s’ unmistakable vocal style, Funplex is instantly recognizable as quintessential and contemporary B-52s. Newsweek Magazine declared, “Like a sonic shot of vitamin B12, the dance fl oor beats, fuzzy guitar riff s and happy, shiny lyrics keep the energy going.”

As The B-52s continue to take their party-music revolution into the 21st century they show no signs of slowing down, serving up their own unique blend of music and showmanship to millions of fans around the world.

You may know them better as the World’s Greatest Party Band!

“Reasons for audience members to envy the dancers of Ballet Flamenco: the dancers are evocative and exciting, blending traditional fl amenco with some decidedly more contemporary music, moves and looks. The dancers are lithe and accomplished...” - Las Vegas Review Journal

A fl amenca performance gives the spectator an overwhelming sensation of happiness, a joyful and sensual mood that no other form of dance is capable of evoking. Because fl amenca is an explosion of rhythms, colors, and emotions that contains all of the vitality, sunniness, and passion of the Spanish people, it is a folkloric celebration, where, even when “theatre art” is being provided, irresistible erotic appeal and irrepressible energy remain intact.

The Compañia Flamenca Jose Porcél was founded in Madrid, Spain and is among the premier dance troupes that exhibits this exciting art form. The Company brings this tradition to life vibrantly and colorfully with live musicians, vocalists and of course dancers and has delighted audiences around the world for many years. The Company scored a sensational success in their 2009 coast to coast tour of North America and returns to the US in the 2011-12 season in their thrilling new program “Gypsy Fire.”

José Porcel was born in Sevilla and at the age of 13 began dancing Andalucian folkloric dances and fl amenco in cultural centers in Valencia. He has danced as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, performed around the world with the Compañía Española, and interpreted the Torero in “Carmen” during a major tour of Germany and Switzerland.

All the dancers have shoes to die for.

“The problem with an artist like Imelda May is that she’s so good, it makesa critical review almost impossible to write: her performance is fl awless...” -Clash Magazine

Imelda May, born in Dublin and raised in the Liberties, may be an unknown name to some, but to many she is already a superstar. She is unmistakable both in her music (a fusion of surf guitars, blues and rockabilly that wouldn’t be out of place in a David Lynch fi lm) and her style, with a solitary curl and shock of blonde in her jet black hair.

In Ireland, her debut album Love Tattoo, which she recorded and released on her own label, has gone Triple Platinum. She has shared the stage with Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, David Gilmour, Sharon Shannon, Jeff Beck, Shane Macgowan, Kirsty McCall, Van Morrison, Lionel Richie, Wanda Jackson, Paul Brady and Meatloaf. And now, with the release of her new album Mayhem, she is about to go stellar.

Being the youngest of fi ve siblings, Imelda was the most susceptible to the various musical infl uences from her older brothers and sisters, which she could hear constantly through the walls of their two bedroom house. There was folk, the obligatory chart pop, and then there was Elvis. “My brother was a mad Elvis fan, and I found a tape in his room with Elvis, Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent. I thought the music was fantastic.” By the age of nine Imelda had fallen in love with rockabilly and the blues. Singing along to rock n roll from an early age, her tastes began to develop and deepen, fi rst with Elmore James and then – “ I heard Billie Holiday, and that blew my mind.” After a year of art college she dropped out, deciding she would rather sing for a living.

2010 got off to an auspicious start when Imelda accepted an off er from Jeff Beck to perform with him at the Grammys. This was followed in April by a two night support slot in London with one of her idols, Wanda Jackson.

Her new album Mayhem sees Imelda continue to develop her uniquely modern fusion of classic musical genres. Imelda May? In 2011, she bloody well will!

Roberto Cavalli fl ew her out to perform at his private party during Milan Fashion Week. So chic!

“No matter how Pink Martini gets described, there’s always an element being overlooked, a reliance on phrases such as lounge, cosmopolitan rumba or ne0-classical that only tells part of this rich story. Impressive at every musician’s station, this ensemble produces music that’s charming and elegant...” - Variety

“Pink Martini is like a romantic Hollywood musical of the 1940s or 50s - but with a global perspective which is modern,” says founder and artistic director, Thomas M. Lauderdale. “We bring melodies and rhythms from diff erent parts of the world together to create something which is new and beautiful.”

Drawing inspiration from music all over the world - crossing genres of classical, jazz and old fashioned pop - Lauderdale founded the “little orchestra” in 1994 in Portland, Oregon. Lauderdale met China Forbes, Pink Martini’s “Diva Next Door” lead vocalist, at Harvard. He was studying history and literature and she was studying English literature and painting. They bonded over their love of singing arias by Puccini and Verdi, and the occasional campy Barbara Streisand cover.

The song-writing began, and their fi rst song “Sympathique”, which became an overnight sensation in France, was nominated for Song of the Year at France’s Victories de la Musique Awards in 2000.

All twelve members of Pink Martini come from multicultural families, studying diff erent languages, as well as diff erent styles of music from diff erent parts of the world.

Pink Martini’s three recordings - Sympathique, Hang on Little Tomato, and Hey Eugenie! - collectively have sold over 2 million records worldwide.

At one moment you feel like you are in the middle of a samba parade in Rio de Janeiro, and in the next moment, you’re in a French music hall of the 1930s or a

“She was almost dancing during the two fast movements, bringing out the quirky fun and drama of the pacy, spiky rhythms. But it was the contrast with the sorrowful and refl ective andante, played with such tenderness and lightness of touch, which was so impressive...” - Coventry Telegraph

With her consistently striking and dynamic performances, 23 year-old pianist Natasha Paremski reveals astounding virtuosity and voracious interpretive abilities. She continues to generate excitement from all corners as she wins over audiences with her musical sensibility and fl awless technique.

Born in Moscow, Natasha began her piano studies at the age of 4 with Nina Malikova at the Andreyev School of Music. In 1995, she immigrated with her family to the United States and became a US citizen in 2001. She studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music before moving to New York to study with Pavlina Dokovska at Mannes College of Music. Her growing list of awards includes the Prix Montblanc 2007, the 2006 Gilmore Young Artist Award, top prize in the 2002 Bronislaw Kaper Awards sponsored by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, top prize in the Young Artists in Carnegie Hall 2000 International Piano Festival, and many others.

At the age of 15 she debuted with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and recorded two discs on the Bel Air Music Label with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. In September 2010, Natasha was awarded the Classical Recording Foundation’s Young Artist of the Year.

With a strong focus on new music, Natasha’s growing repertoire refl ects an artistic maturity beyond her years.

It’s enough to make other young aspirants smash their keyboards in frustration…

“An impressive performance of a classical ballet, energized with dramatic expression and sensational steps...” - The Chronicle; Durham, North Carolina

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet, Sergei Radchenko, sought to realize his vision of a company which would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet.

Leading dancers from across Russia have forged under Radchenko’s direction an exciting new company staging new productions of timeless classics such as Giselle, Don Quixote, Paquita and Carmen.

Since its inception, the Moscow Festival Ballet has completed two tours of Europe, with extraordinary receptions in Italy, France, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands. Two tours of the United Kingdom, including capacity audiences at London’s famed Coliseum, have resulted in re-engagements.

The company has also performed with great success in Turkey at the Istanbul Festival and in Greece at the Athens Festival, and recently completed a two-month tour of Japan, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. Under the direction of Sergei Radchenko, the Moscow Festival Ballet continues to expand its repertoire. In addition to commissioning new works from within Russia and abroad, the company specializes in Twentieth Century full-length ballets such as Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, Legend of Love, Stone Flower and The Golden Age.

The Company returns to the United States in the 2011-2012 season for a four month coast to coast tour.

This was an afternoon that deserved “bravos” within minutes of the opening steps.
