And why should you, right? It’s almost absurd to expect that you could grasp the fullness of the scene. But many people are frustrated when they are unable to understand certain challenges in the middle of their lives. Consider Joseph in the OT. His brothers wanted to kill him, but they decided to sell him to some traveling merchants. His new master falsely accused him and then had him thrown in jail. But the story takes a turn when we see Joseph rise to power in such a way that he helps countless people have food to eat during a long, difficult famine. When Joseph saw his brothers coming for food too, his statement to them was this, “Now do not be grieved or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life” (Genesis 45:5). Without a big-picture view of life, Joseph would have been perpetually frustrated. But his mature perspective resulted in purpose and passion for God. How do you picture the challenges in your life? Purpose. The purpose of The SAFE is to temporarily assist single adults who are experiencing financial crisis. This fund is not intended to provide long-term financial assistance. Having such a policy will allow us to assist many others as the needs arise. Prerequisite. You are eligible if you a) are a member of an NRHBC Single Adult Ministry Bible study class, b) have attended that class at least 50% of the time for the last 6 months, and c) have a critical expense as determined by the Benevolence Committee. Parameters. Because The SAFE is designed to be a temporary help, a limitation of how many times a person can be assisted from the fund in a 12 month period (not calendar year) has been set at 3. Also, a $500 limit per request has been set. Process. You can pursue help by contacting the Single Adult office (817.284.9206) which will confirm your attendance eligibility and then contact the committee. You will then be contacted to discuss your need. Keep in mind that paperwork must be processed and so assistance may take a few days to occur.

GPS Update The LifeCrossing class has been gaining

momentum which is becoming evident in a number of ways. One recent illustration of this

growth is the gifts they have worked hard to make and then give away. Several of the class members

produced some hand-made blankets/quilts/lap-warmers in an effort to bless others. A few of

these were given out as prizes at the nursing home Valentines party. What a great idea! Thank you

LifeCrossing for demonstrating that … God’s People Serve.

Each One Tell One

“When all else fails – God is still with you. When you lack courage, wisdom, strength, or insights – God will prevail. When you’ve given up on your efforts and feel you are falling short – God hears your desperate prayers. And when you are weak – God is at his very best.” – The Unexpected Ad-venture, p.130. Mark Mittelberg (MA, Trinity Evangelical Theological School) is author of Choosing Your Faith…In a World of Spiritual Options and Building a Contagious Church.
