00 The joy of playing the guitar

Common mistake: Buying a secondhand guitar or buying online!

Please buy your first guitar at a music store. You need an inexpensive acoustic guitar that will stay in tune.

Your guitar should be the right size and weight for you. Ideally, nylon strings are best to begin with.

If you walk or bike, buy a backpack case. If you use a car please don’t leave your guitar in the hot sun!

This e-Book is designed for people who wish to sing and play the guitar at the same time. Singing and playing guitar is a rewarding past time. My journey began when I was five years old. I didn’t enjoy it at first but once I could sing and strum a few chords I loved it. Now it is time for you to begin.

The Journey

Buy a clip on tuner to tune your strings to E (lowest), A, D, G, B and E (highest).

Buy an inexpensive guitar that isn’t too big. You can upgrade if you reach the end of this course!
