1.0 PURPOSE The purpose of this Work Instruction is to establish the procedures for the review of the 3D model.

2.0 SCOPE This Work Instruction describes procedures and guidelines for review of the 3D model and is applicable to all projects where PDS 3D software is being utilized for design. Note: Although, this procedure is primarily applicable to PDS, similar guidelines can be extended to other modelling

software such as AUTOPLANT and PDMS with appropriate considerations to issues that are software specific.

Refer to WI-LL-24f2 for the 3D Workflow Diagram Inputs required for 3D model development, design progress to be made and output expectations from the model at various stages of completion are identified. The stages of the 3D model reviews are milestones and expressed in terms of

percentage, not necessarily equal to percentage of engineering progress made.

The objectives of the 3D model review are to ensure:- Design has progressed to the expected stage as planned Model incorporates progress made in design and vendor data available to date Design meets all process functionality, engineering and HSE requirements Constructability, Operability and Maintainability requirements are incorporated Standardized design philosophies are utilized across the project Client’s Standards, as applicable, are adhered Modelled work is clash free and inter-discipline interfaces are incorporated Design deficiencies are clearly identified Time based path forward for resolving open items

This document lists the roles and responsibilities of all engineering disciplines and

their contributions towards successful completion of the 3D model. All disciplines (Piping, Process, Mechanical, Civil, Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation and Building Services and DTS) shall be actively involved during the reviews.

Inputs required to reach each milestone completion are identified. Modelling and review expectations of the 3D model and the outcomes and

objectives of each milestone completion are listed. These formal reviews shall be treated as important milestones for Project schedule.

All stake holders i.e. Technology (Licensor), Engineering, Projects, Construction, Operations and Maintenance departments shall participate in these sessions.

These formal reviews do not substitute regular weekly review sessions and these are not line by line reviews.

The review methodology, review agenda and participants for each formal review shall be discussed and agreed with the Client before the review.

3.0 OVERVIEW 3.1 General 3.1.1 It is essential to conduct formal Client reviews of the 3D model at appropriate pre-fixed

time intervals throughout the duration of the project and get Client’s approval for the design that is completed.

3.1.2 Depending upon the size of the project and the number of units involved, the project may be divided into sub-areas so that the 3D model reviews can be conducted independently. The Client’s Project Managers and Jacob’s Project Engineering Managers shall be the focal point of contact for all reviews, comments and close outs.

3.1.3 NAVISWORKS software shall be used for the formal model reviews. 3.1.4 The formal model reviews shall be conducted over a period of three to five working

days, depending on each area. 3.2 Weekly / Daily Reviews 3.2.1 Apart from formal model reviews, weekly model reviews shall continue throughout the

project duration to address ongoing action points and monitor progress and quality of the 3D model.

3.2.2 An action log (WI-LL-24f4) shall be maintained by the Project Engineering Manager to

record and track the weekly model review comments for all the disciplines. Actions that are completed shall be suitably tagged. The completed and/or tagged action points shall be reviewed in the successive sessions and closed out.

3.2.3 Separate line wise reviews shall also be conducted to ensure that the line modelling is

consistent with inputs (mainly process) and checked for stress, accessibility of valves and instruments, supporting is taken care of, slopes, no-pocket and specific requirements are adhered to and all holds & assumptions are documented.

3.2.4 During these reviews, checks shall be done to ensure that the model is updated in line

with latest vendor documents and with agreed comments of previous review sessions. 3.2.5 Line wise checking requires more time. It may not be feasible to check and obtain

approval for lines modelled during the entire week, during the weekly review sessions. Therefore, at some point of time during the execution of the project, daily reviews will be required. Based on the checking backlog of modelled lines, the PEM / Lead Engineer shall discuss and agree upon the requirement for daily reviews with the Client’s PM. The focus of the daily reviews must be to check / approve all the lines modelled during the previous days and clear the backlogs.

3.2.6 Lines that are checked and approved shall be ‘locked’ in the 3D model to prevent unauthorized modifications and to control further changes. This could only be done at a certain stage of the model. That is, certain lines could be locked after 60% model review and later during reviews that are called specifically to approve lines and lock them either by area or system wise.

3.2.7 A working copy of the line list shall be maintained and duly updated to record and track

line wise review comments and balance points (including holds and assumptions). 3.2.8 NAVISWORKS software shall be used for the weekly and daily model reviews 3.3 Modelling Scope 3.3.1 Entire plant shall be modelled. The exceptions are listed as below. Intention is to get

quality output documents that have undergone multi-disciplinary checks and reviewed by technology, construction and operations and maintenance departments.

3.3.2 All above ground work and underground services shall be modelled. Piling shall be

modelled to a depth of 5 meters to ensure that all underground services are clash free 3.3.3 Non-process buildings may not be modelled. However, these buildings outlines shall be

modelled as shell/envelope with coordinates. Process buildings interiors such as electrical/ instrumentation rooms, office rooms and similar enclosed rooms will not be modelled. Only their encompassing walls shall be modelled.

3.3.4 Building services, electrical and instrumentation equipment installed outside shall be

modelled as envelopes only, for space & interface management. 3.3.5 Extent of items to be modelled has to be agreed with the client during scope definition.

The following should be treated as a guideline only.

All sizes of piping (with insulation, as applicable) (Tubing will not be modeled. Only manifolds will be modeled)

All equipment (including portable equipment, as applicable) (The extent of modeling of vendor package units must be discussed and agreed)

All inline items All supports All piles, trenches, substructure and superstructure

(Concrete rebars, anchor bolts, etc details are not to be modeled. They are only modeled to shape)

All steel structural work, including platforms, stairs, walkways, ladders, chequered plates, gratings, handrails, openings

Floor slopes, Roads, paving, drains, space for trees and plants Buildings (refer to clause 3.3.3). External walls – brick walls, cladding, windows,

louvers, doors, openings for cables, piping, ducts and other services

3.5.4 Once the action points in the spreadsheet are closed, then no further change in the design is expected.

3.5.5 The comments and actions of the weekly reviews shall be maintained as a Weekly

Action Log (WI-LL-24f4) by the Project Engineering Manager. Refer to Section 9.0 of this Work Instruction.

4.0 DESIGN MILESTONES The 3D model shall be formally reviewed with the Client at three milestone stages of

completion. The stages are 30%, 60% and finally 90%.

Incorporation of the formal model review comments and close out shall be the foremost action point for the subsequent stage.

Completion of formal model review and incorporation of all comments and close out shall be the indicator of the design completed at that stage.

Once the model is reviewed and client approval is obtained on the closure of comments, then design for that stage shall be treated as Frozen. Subsequent changes to previously reviewed and approved designs shall be strictly restricted and controlled. Necessary change management system shall be enforced.
