DESCRIPTION

Six months ago, i published an article named "Design of copper solvent extraction configurations" on the simulation of the copper solvent extraction with the extracting Lix984N. For the better visualization, this article takes the simulation model in Excel 2010 to demonstrate the simulation procedure explained in the first article. The simulation is based on following parameters: 1. The concentration of extractant in the organic phase (v/v %).2. The ratio (O/A) in the extraction section, 3. The saturation ratio (LO/MAC).4. The mixer efficiencies in the extraction and stripping sections. The specificity of each option is:1. The option of simulation "value of v/v % is the option which gives the value of the extractant concentration (v/v%) in the organic phase when the values of the others parameters are known.2. The option of simulation "value of ratio O/A is the option which gives the values of the extraction ratio O/A when the values of the others parameters are known. 3. The option of simulation “Value of ratio LO/MAC "is the option which gives the value of the saturation ratio LO/MAC when the values of the others parameters are known.4. The option of simulation “values of mixer efficiencies is the option which gives the values of mixer efficiencies for the existing plant.

SimSXCu – version 1.0

SimSXCu is a program to simulate the Copper solvent extraction configuration using the Lix984N as the extractant. This version 1.0 is free trial version and applied only on the series configuration with two extraction stages and two stripping stages. The principle of this program is described in the publication "Design of Copper solvent extraction configurations".

1.      The concentration of extractant in the organic phase (v/v %).2.      The ratio (O/A) in the extraction section, 3.      The saturation ratio (LO/MAC).4.      The mixer efficiencies in the extraction and stripping sections.

The simulation is done in Excel 2010 with the solver (The Solver is an add-in for Microsoft Excel which is used for the optimization and simulation of business and engineering models. It solves complex linear and non linear problems and can also be used in conjunction with VBA to automate tasks)

You can load the solver (solveur in French) easily and you can find the loading procedure on the web. The solver application will appear in the tab “data” (données in French) in the Excel worksheet.
