1. “MAKING MEANINGFUL MATERIALS: EMPHASIS ON COMMON CORE & DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING” STARTS OCTOBER 2 WHEN: Thursdays: October 2, 16 & 30, November 13 & 20 WHAT: EDUX 5320 A, B, C, OR D 4:00 – 8:00 PM This course requires 45 hours of class sessions, practicum, and active instructional learning. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to enrich, enliven and bring energy to the curriculum with instructional materials that grab your attention and improve motivation in the classroom. Participants will construct games, learning centers and activities that provide reinforcement to students at all ability levels. Course participants create developmental activities that lend themselves to independent work time and cooperative learning groups.
2. “MULTICULTURAL APPRECIATION” STARTS DECEMBER 4 WHEN: Thursday: December 4, 4:00 – 5:00 (Orientation) WHAT: EDUX 5500 A, B, C, OR D Thursday: January 22, 2015, 4:00 – 5:00 PM (Closing) This course requires 45 hours of class sessions, practicum, and active instructional learning. Flexible Scheduling COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides educators with the opportunity to better understand and appreciate the ethnic and cultural groups of their community through in-‐depth examination of community environments in which their pupils live. Participants will explore the fusion of cross-‐cultural influences that define social and political America in celebrating how our diversity makes our classrooms, communities and nation stronger. Information that adds appreciation of our American cultural and political heritage will be covered. Study tours to cultural enriching sites will be part of this class. Participants will gain a better understanding of multicultural education and its critical importance to the success of the schools and our society.
