NOTE: We never fully see the mother.

FIRST SCENE

THE MOTHER, 30, is looking in the kitchen for something.

The screen is black. Nothing can be seen. It is so silent that you can hear a pin drop. All of a sudden, there is the sound of screaming and a baby crying.

CUT TO:

A dimly lit room. The Pink Elephants sequence from Dumbo is playing on the TV in the back of the room. The baby son is in a crib in a corner of the room. MEREDITH, 5, is sitting in front of the TV. The Mother walks into the room, and looks at her. Meredith turns around and smiles at her.

MERDITHHi, mommy.

The Mother’s hand slowly slides over to the light switch, and turns off the lights. The room is almost pitch black. There is only a little bit of moonlight coming in form the widows. We hear Meredith screaming.

The Mother is chasing her children around the room. The Mother’s POV, we can see her daughter, Meredith is holding her baby brother. She looks up, and sees her mother with the knife in her hand. She tries to run from her mother.

MEREDITHMommy, no!!

The Mother grabs her ankle, and drags her across the floor. Meredith drops the porcelain clown she was holding. A piece of its face breaks off.

The Mother covers her daughter’s mouth, and slowly slits her throat. Close up on Meredith’s blue eyes. They widen to the point where her pupils almost disappear.

We see from the shadows on the wall that The Mother continues to butcher her children. Blood splatters on the TV screen while the pink elephants portion is still playing.

CUT TO:

The mother is carrying her baby son and her daughter to the lake. She is in her white nightgown that has been splattered with blood. She lays them down on the dock, and kisses them on the cheek. She takes Meredith’s body, and throws them into the lake.

She waits for a minute. The Mother is holding something in her hand.

Close up on her crying baby in her hand.

She suddenly whips her head around, and suddenly thrust the knife into her head, and drops the heart into the lake. She lets out a painful scream, and falls into the lake. CUT TO:

INT- NATHAN’S APARTMENT- MORNING TIME

NATHAN PORTMAN, 25, is sleeping, while his little sister, MIA PORTMAN, 16-17, is in the kitchen. She is eating a Hot Pocket while reading a magazine when the phone rings. Nathan yells from the other room.

NATHANMia, could you get that?

Mia puts her Hot Pocket down and answers the phone.

MIAHello?

KEIRAHi, this is Keira. Is Nathan there?

MIAHey, Keira. Hold on just a second.

CUT TO:

INT- KEIRA’S CAR- SAME TIME

KEIRA STARLING, 23, is in the car on the way to her new house. Music is playing, and her camera is in the seat next to her.

KEIRAMia, is that you?

KEIRAIt’s been all right. What are you Doing with your brother?

MIAMy parents wanted me to spend some More time with him. Plus they didn’tWant to bring me to Monte Carlo.

Keira laughs at the remark.

KEIRAHow’s his book coming along?

MIAWell, it’s coming.

She opens the door to Nathan’s room and tosses the phone onto his bed.

MIAHey, it’s for you.

Nathan rubs his eyes, and picks up the phone.

NATHANHello?

KEIRAGuess who?

Nathan suddenly perks up.

Keira, hi.

KEIRAHey, sleepyhead. Are you and your Sister doing anything this weekend?

NATHAN No, we’re free. Why?

KEIRAWell, I’m moving into my new house IBought.

NATHANYou bought a house? How could you Afford a house on a photographer’sBudget?

KEIRAWell… Okay, so my folks paid for mostOf it, but I did pay for part of it.

NATHANI knew there was a catch.

Nathan walks into the kitchen and grabs a mug. He pours himself a cup of coffee.

KEIRAIt was also pretty cheap. Only about Fifty thousand.

NATHANWhere is it?

KEIRAIt’s in this cute little town. It’s a Little far away, but it’s beautiful. SoI was wondering if maybe you guys wantedTo come up and help me move in. You know,A little house warming week.

Keira says this as a sarcastic joke, but Nathan is caught off guard, and chokes on his coffee. Mia hears her through the phone. She sees Nathan’s reaction, and laughs.

NATHANWell, I…

KEIRAPlease?

It is quiet as Nathan thinks about it.

NATHANWe’d love to come. When should weHead up?

KEIRAHow about tomorrow. I’m on my way Up there right now, so I’ll probablyGet there around late afternoon.

NATHANWe’ll see you then. Bye.

Keira hangs up the phone, and puts it in her bag. Nathan hangs up the phone, and Mia starts to reenact the conversation.

MIAOh, Nathan. Don’t you love me?

Nathan opens the fridge, and looks over at Mia.

MIAOh I do. I love you Keira. I’ve Always loved you. And every timeI think about you, I get so horny It’s too much to bare.

Nathan walks over to Mia and takes her Hot Pocket. Mia tries to take it away from him.

Nathan gives her back the Hot Pocket. He laughs, and sips his coffee.

MIAYou know she’s going to find out soon.

NATHANI know, just not yet. I’ll do it When I’m ready.

MIAAnd when is that going to be?

NATHANSoon, I promise.

MIAYou’re the biggest procrastinator I Know.

NATHANI know. This week, I’m going to tell her.

The living room is very big. Keira is in her sleeping bag on the floor. The U-haul truck is outside with her furniture yet, so all she has is her sleeping bag, and change of clothes, a book, and her camera. She’s flipping through her book with her headphones on. We go to the top of the stairs, where The Mother is.

She has her hand on the railing. The blood from that night years ago is still fresh. She’s dripping wet. She leaves a trail of wet foot prints.

She looks at Keira from the top of the stairs. Keira doesn’t notice her at all. The Mother goes back upstairs. She drags her left foot behind her, leaving a trail of bloody water behind.

The window in the living room slowly opens with a long and slow creak, and Keira feels goose bumps creeping up her flesh. She walks over to the window to see if there’s anybody there, but there is no one. She closes the window, and goes back to her sleeping bag.

CUT TO:

INT- NATHAN’S CAR- THE NEXT AFTERNOON

Nathan and Mia are in the car driving to Keira’s new house. They have a big bag of chips between them that they are eating. Mia is doing a crossword puzzle.

NATHANI wonder how she got the place forSo cheap.

Mia looks up from her crossword puzzle.

MIAHow much did she get it for?

NATHANFifty thousand.

MIAIs it a nice place?

NATHANWell, she said it was on the water,

NATHANI think Keira would check to make sure It wasn’t. Trust me.

Mia laughs, and goes back to her cross word puzzle. Mia looks up and sees a little girl right in front of the car.

MIANathan! Look out!

Nathan suddenly stops short, and the car comes to a screeching halt. They get out and see if the girl is okay, but the girl is nowhere to be found.

NATHANWhere the fuck did she go?

MIAI don’t know. I guess she movedOut of the way. Come on, let’sJust get to the house.

They get back into the car, and drive to Keira’s house.

CUT TO:

EXT- KEIRA’S HOUSE- AFTERNOON

It’s about one thirty in the afternoon. Nathan and Mia arrive at the house. They park the car in the very long driveway, and get out of the car. They take a look at the house as they get their stuff out of the car.

It’s a very big house that’s pretty new. There is a big porch with chairs and a small table. There is a small dock by the lake.

She got this for fifty thousand? It’s like a Barbie dream home comeTo life.

MIAWow, look at it.

Keira is putting some film into her camera when she hears people outside. She puts down her camera, and walks over to the window and looks outside. She sees Nathan and Mia. She smiles, and runs outside.

NATHANDo you think she’s changed much?

MIAIt’s been a year. Maybe she did Change, maybe she didn’t.

Keira runs over to Nathan and Mia.

KEIRAHey you guys!

She jumps up and hugs Nathan. Nathan hugs her back and laughs.

NATHANYep. Same old Keira.

She lets go of Nathan and hugs Mia.

KEIRADid you guys have any trouble withFinding the place?

NATHANIt was pretty easy. Now can you pleaseExplain how you got this place for soCheap.

KEIRAThe owners were actually really Happy to sell it. They said thatIt wasn’t what they were looking For.

MIASeriously? This house is perfect!

While they’re talking, EMMY HUDSON, 24, pulls up in her SUV. She gets out of the car, and takes off her sunglasses. She hugs Keira.

EMMYOh my God, look at this place! It’sFucking amazing!

She hugs Nathan, and then hugs Keira.

KEIRAJust wait till you see the insideOf it. It’s just what I was lookingFor.

They start to walk to the house.

KEIRASo where’s Dylan?

EMMYHe ran into traffic, so he’ll probablyBe here in an hour.

CUT TO:

INT- KEIRA’S HOUSE

Keira opens the front door to the house. They all walk inside, and start to look around. The lights are off, but most of the light is coming from the sun.

NATHANHoly shit, this place is huge.

KEIRAI know. I don’t even know what to doWith all of the space.

MIAHow far away is the town?

KEIRA

About twenty minutes. It’s a really Nice place. Every thing is so spread Out though.

EMMYHow far away is your neighbor?

KEIRAAbout five or ten miles.

EMMYI don’t think I could live up here. It’s a nice place, but it would getWay too quiet at night. I hate whenIt’s too quiet, It keeps me awake.

KEIRAEmmy, since when do you sleep? Whenever I call you, you’re eitherAt a party, or a club, or God knowsWhere else.

EMMYThat’s not true.

NATHANName one night that you were at home.

Emmy tries to think of one.

EMMYWell, there was that one time when…Um…

They all laugh while Emmy tries to think. Emmy can’t help but smile too.

EMMYShut up.

CUT TO:

INT- KEIRA’S KITCHEN- LATER ON

There are boxes from the U-Haul truck in the kitchen. One is labeled “Plates and Cups”, and another is labeled “Pots and Pans”. Everyone is helping un-pack when DYLAN MEYERS, 24, knocks on the front door.

NATHANI’ll get it.

He walks over to the front door, and opens it for Dylan. They greet each other, and head to the kitchen. Keira sees Dylan and gives him a hug.

DYLANSorry I’m late. Traffic was aBitch on the Interstate.

KEIRAHey, you’re here now.

MIAAnd we saved all the heavy stuffJust for you.

DYLANReally?

EMMYYeah, because that’s how much we Love you.

Dylan helps Nathan with unloading the plates and cups.

DYLANSo how are things between you and Keira?

Nathan starts to blush.

DYLANYou still haven’t told her?

NATHANI just haven’t found the time.

NATHANHey, I’ll tell her this week. Mia isMaking me.

DYLANWell, we’re here in a nice house.It’s right by a lake. It can get Pretty lonely at night.

NATHANShut up, man.

Dylan laughs, and they continue to unpack.

CUT TO:

INT- BATHROOM- NIGHT TIME

Keira is in the bathroom brushing her teeth. She spits into the sink, and puts her hair in a pony tail. She suddenly hears blood curdling screams from downstairs. She gasps, and runs out of the bathroom.

She starts to run downstairs. The screaming is getting louder and more unbearable. She tries to close her ears, but the screaming is in her head. She finally gets downstairs, and the screaming suddenly stops. She sees everybody in the living room laughing and having a good time. They look at Keira and see how distraught she is.

EMMYYou okay?

KEIRAWhat?

EMMYAre you okay? You seem a little shaken.

KEIRADidn’t anyone just hear that?

NATHANHear what?

KEIRANothing, it’s nothing. Does anybodyWant anything from the kitchen?

DYLANCan you get me a beer?

KEIRASure.

She goes into the kitchen and gets two beers. She looks out the window, and goes back to the living room. She sits down and hands Dylan his beer. Nathan raises his glass to toast.

NATHANTo Keira. Congratulations on gettingYour first house.

DYLANAnd the new job at the newspaper.

MIAWe love you, Keira.

They all toast. Keira gives Nathan a radiant smile.

CUT TO:

INT- NATHAN’S ROOM- NIGHT TIME

Nathan is walking to the bathroom when he hears a noise coming from one of the rooms down the hall. He opens the door to the room the noise is coming from. He hears a voice in the room, but he can’t make out what is being said.

NATHANMia, is that you?

The room is completely dark except for a white glow at the end of the room. He looks around, and can’t see anybody else in the room. He walks slowly towards the glow at the end of the the room. This is from Nathan’s POV. He gets closer to the screen.

He crouches down and sees what’s on the screen. It’s the pink elephant sequence from Dumbo. He reaches for the off button, and the TV suddenly goes fuzzy. He shuts the TV off, and goes back to his room.

After Nathan leaves the room, we close up on the far left corner of the room. There is a figure crouched on the floor. The Mother reaches up to her head, and slowly yanks out the rusty jagged knife that’s in her head.

Close up on her left eye, which suddenly open. They are bright red with yellow irises. Blood starts to leak from her eye.

CUT TO:

INT- KITCHEN- MORNING TIME

Mia opens the fridge and sees that there is nothing in it but a six pack of beer. She checks the cupboards to see if there’s any food, but there’s only a bag of chips. Nathan comes into the kitchen and stretches out.

NATHANGood morning. Do we have any food?

MIANo. But if you want beer for breakfast,Then be my guest.

NATHANI think I’ll leave that to Dylan.

MIAMaybe we should head into town and Get some things.

Keira sleepily comes down the stairs in her pajamas.

KEIRAMorning, you guys.

NATHANHey, we were going to go into town And get some things for breakfast. Do you want to come?

KEIRASure. I’ll be ready in five minutes.

She goes back to her room. Mia gives Nathan the thumbs up.

CUT TO:

INT- LOCAL STORE- MORNING TIME

Nathan, Keira and Mia are in the local food store getting some things for the house. There’s a woman in her late forties working at the counter. She sees them walking around the store, and doesn’t recognize them.

CASHIERI hope you don’t mind me asking, But are you three from out of town?

NATHANOh, my sister and I are just visiting.My friend just moved here.

CASHIERWell then, welcome to the neighborhood.

NATHANThanks.

CASHIERWhere is she living?

NATHANThe house that’s by the lake. It’s About twenty minutes from here.

CASHIERReally? Why would she want to live there?

NATHAN

Why not? The house is incredible.

CASHIERWell, there’s just been some strangeThings going on there.

NATHANStrange things?

CASHIERA bit of an urban legend, that’s all.There’s a ghost or something that supposedlyLives there.

NATHANA ghost?

CASHIERYeah. But it’s nothing at all. It’s Just an old local legend, that’s all.Some of the kids around here would goUp to the house and see who could stayIn it the longest without getting spooked.It’s quite funny, actually.

Keira and Mia come up to the cashier and bring up the food. They have some breakfast items, and other things like paper towels, soap etc. The cashier rings up the items as she talks.

CASHIERAre you the girl who just bought The house by the lake?

KEIRAYes, I’m Keira. It’s nice to meet you.

CASHIERNice to meet you too, Keira. I’m Dolores.

Just as they’re shaking hands and getting to know one another, a German Shepard walks in from the back. He sees Keira, causally walks up to her, and jumps on her.

CASHIERLevi! Get down!!

She is tackled to the floor, and the dog looks her straight in the eye. He gives a low, sonorous growl. The cashier pulls the dog off of Keira. Mia and Nathan help Keira onto her feet.

CASHIERI’m so sorry. I don’t know what Got into him.

KEIRAIt’s okay.

CASHIERDo you need any band-aids?

KEIRAOh, yes please.

The Cashier reaches for behind the counter and hands her a box of band aids. They thank her, and leave the store.

CUT TO:

EXT- TOWN STREET- LATER

Nathan, Mia and Keira are all walking down the street. Mia sees a cute little toy shop across from them.

MIAHey, I’m just going to take a look in the toy shop. I won’t belong.

NATHANAll right. Meet us at the car.

Mia runs across the street to the toy store.

CUT TO:

INT- TOY STORE- SAME TIME

Mia walks into the toy store to look around. A small bell on the top of the door rings. The Toy Store Owner, 65, looks up

from carving a horse out of a block of wood, and nods his head.

Mia starts to look at the beautiful porcelain dolls on the shelf.

TOY STORE OWNERSo, you ever been around these parts?

MIANo, this is my first time here. It’s nice here.

TOY STORE OWNERWell, not all that glitters is gold, miss.

Mia looks at the toy store owner. She is confused at what he said.

MIAI’m sorry?

TOY STORE OWNERNot all that glitters is gold. It may seem lovely and such in The day. But at night is when Things happen.

MIAI’m not sure I understand what You’re saying, sir.

TOY STORE OWNERThere’s a woman. She walks the Streets at night. She comes when You least expect it.

MIAWho’s this woman?

The toy store owner goes on as if she didn’t say anything at all.

TOY STORE OWNERDon’t bother locking your doors atNight. She can get through any door.

Mia starts to back away from the store.

MIAHave a nice day, sir.

She gets out of the toy store, and runs to the car.

CUT TO:

INT- EMMY’S ROOM- MORNING

Emmy is still sleeping. She is lying peacefully.

A bloody, wet hand goes down on her face. She opens her eyes, and sees a bloody knife into the air. She tries to scream, but she can’t.

Close up on her mouth. The Mother takes her index finger, and puts it up to her lips. She tells her be quiet, and smiles. We can see her greasy yellow teeth. The knife goes down.

Close up on Emmy’s face. We can hear and see The Mother carving into the flesh. The sheets are being drenched in blood.

Emmy wakes up screaming and gasping for breath. She is sweating and grabbing her stomach. She checks the sheets to see if there is any blood, but they’re clean. Dylan bursts into the room. Emmy gasps, and then starts to catch her breath.

EMMYHoly shit! Don’t do that to me!!

DYLANSorry, I just heard you screaming.

EMMYWell, I’m fine. Don’t worry.

DYLANSo what happened in the dream?

Dylan comes and sits on the bed beside Emmy.

EMMYIt was really fucked up. I was justSleeping, and then this woman came And put her mouth over my hand.

Flashback to the knife going up in the air.

EMMY (cont’d)She just kept plunging this knife into Me. And…

She clutches her stomach.

DYLANAnd what?

EMMYI felt it. I could feel the pain. I felt the blood soaking the sheets.It was awful.

DYLANHoly fuck. Are you going to be okay?

EMMYYeah, I’ll be fine. Thanks.

They hear the front door open, and they walk out of the room to the top of the stairs.

Nathan, Keira and Mia come in with groceries. Emmy and Dylan walk downstairs to help them un-pack.

KEIRAMorning, guys. Did you sleep okay?

Emmy and Dylan look at each other.

EMMYYeah, I slept great.

DYLANSame here. I slept like a baby.

Mia winks to him. Emmy and Dylan grab some of the bags. They rush into the kitchen. Keira and Nathan are now alone.

CUT TO:

INT- BATHROOM- DAY TIME

Nathan is wringing out a wet cloth. He starts to clean the blood off of the cut on Keira’s hand.

NATHANThis might sting a little bit.

He rubs the blood away, and Keira winces.

NATHANSorry.

KEIRAIt’s okay. I’m fine.

She looks at Nathan and gives him a smile. Nathan starts to blush, and quickly looks down.

They suddenly here screams coming from downstairs. They quickly get up and run out.

INT- KITCHEN- SAME TIME

Mia, Emmy and Dylan are un-packing the groceries. Emmy opens a drawer, and large spider falls onto her neck. She starts to scream.

EMMYGet it off of me!!

Dylan and Mia rush to help her. Dylan swipes it off of her neck and onto the floor. Mia gets a magazine from the table and smacks the spider.

The spider twitches its legs, and then dies. There’s a gooey mess on the floor. Emmy slowly steps away from the spider.

EMMYSomething is going on. I don’t knowWhat, but there something’s not right!

DYLANEmmy, calm down. It was just a spider.

EMMYPlease don’t tell me to clam down!!I don’t need to calm down, goddamn it!

MIAIt’s dead now. There’s nothing toBe afraid of.

Emmy flashes back to the dream she had. Keira and Nathan come from upstairs.

NATHANIs everything okay? We just heard screaming.

They look down at the spider on the floor. She shudders, and backs away.

DYLANNo, you should just sit down. I’ll Deal with it.

EMMYThanks. I’ll be in my room if you Guys need me.

She walks upstairs to her room. Dylan gets some paper towels and starts to clean up the mess. Keira walks half way up the stairs.

KEIRAHey, are you all right?

EMMYYeah, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.

Emmy heads upstairs. Keira stays and looks up the stairway for a moment, and walks away.

Emmy is sitting in her bedroom writing in her journal. Someone knocks on the door.

Mia comes in with a bowl of ice cream.

Cut to The Mother putting her finger to her lips. Emmy goes pale.

She gets up and leaves the room. She runs into Dylan, who is coming upstairs.

MIAShe’s okay. She just has a head ache.

DYLANGood. I’ve seen her freak out someTimes, but it was never anything Like that.

MIAMe neither. Do you know where Nathan Put the aspirin?

DYLANI think he left it in the kitchen

She continues on her way downstairs. When she gets to top of the stairs, she looks down and sees a little girl walk across the hall way. She’s holding a clown doll that has part of its face chipped off. Mia goes downstairs and follows the girl through the kitchen.

MEREDITHMommy! Mommy! Mommy!

MIAAre you lost?

Meredith doesn’t answer back. She continues to walk out to the lake. Mia looks down and sees the bloody foot trail she’s left behind.

They reached the edge of the lake, and Mia finally grabs her by the shoulder and turns her around.

Meredith has a gaping hole where her heart should be. The whole front of her is drenched in blood. It’s still bleeding.

MEREDITHMommy no!! Don’t do it Mommy!!

Meredith grabs Mia’s hand and puts it in the hole. She lets it go. Mia’s hand is covered in blood. She wipes the blood on her shirt, and runs back into the house and Meredith continues to yell.

MEREDITHDon’t do it Mommy! Please mommy!!

Mia runs back into the house, and looks out the kitchen window. Meredith is gone. She looks at her hand, and all the blood has disappeared. She rubs her eyes, and sees the bottle of aspirin on the kitchen table.

She runs up to Emmy’s room and opens the door.

EMMYHey, thanks.

MIAOh, no problem. I think I have a Bit of a headache too.

She hands her the bottle of aspirin.

EMMYThanks. I really am sorry about the Freak out a little while ago. It wasA little overly dramatic.

MIADon’t worry about it. It’s fine. We All have our bad days, right?

Emmy pops the pills into her mouth, and takes a spoonful of ice cream.

Dylan is getting ready for bed. He hops into bed, and turns off the lights. The sound of a baby crying can be heard. Dylan get out of bed, and goes out to the hallway. He can hear the crying, and it suddenly stops. Dylan goes back into his room, and goes to sleep.

The Mother comes out of the room the screaming came from. She is holding her bloody jagged knife in her hand. Blood is dripping down onto the ground.

CUT TO:

Emmy is getting ready to go into town. She grabs her bag and her sunglasses, and heads out the door.

She smiles, and walks out the door. She gets into her car, and drives off.

EXT- TOWN- LATER ON

Emmy is casually strolling around town. She spots a library, and heads inside.

INT- LIBRARY- DAY TIME

Emmy walks inside and looks at all the books. There is a librarian at the front desk doing some work on the computer.

LIBRARIANHello. How are you today?

EMMYHi. I’m good, thanks.

She walks over to the computer, and types into the search engine, and types in “Local Legends”. The computer comes up with a couple of sites that don’t interest Emmy particularly. She scrolls down, and sees a site that’s headline is “The Legend of the Mother”. She clicks on the page, and reads what it has to say.

It tells the story about how a mother went insane and brutally killed her children. It has pictures of the crime scene. The picture shows two small bodies being covered by blankets. There is a police officer at the scene.

Emmy’s head is filled with flashing images. She sees Meredith getting killed. She quickly exits the site, and gets up from the computer.

EXT- THE LAKE- DAY TIME

Keira has her camera around her neck. She is taking some pictures of the lake and the area around it. She looks down the road, and sees the dog from the store coming down the road. She puts her camera down. The dog is coming straight for her. She starts to walk slowly back to the house.

The dog starts to speed up, and Keira starts to run for the house. The dog starts to bark, and it chases after her. The dog is catching up to her. Keira is running as fast as she can.

She gets to the porch. The dog is right on her feet. She slams the door behind her, and the dog bashes against the door. She jumps back from the door, and looks out the window.

The dog is bashing itself against the door and barking wildly. The dog looks Keira straight in the eyes.

Close up on the face. It has red eyes instead of black eyes. It leaps up to the window, and starts to paw at her. Close up on the paws and the jaw. She jumps back from the window, and screams.

CUT TO:

INT- KITCHEN- SAME TIME

Nathan, Dylan, Mia and Emmy are finishing up some of the unpacking. They hear the barking, and stop what they’re doing.

She runs into the kitchen and grabs the phone. She quickly calls 911. We can hear the barking from the kitchen.

Animal control has come, and they have the dog on a leash. They’re taking him to the back of a truck. Someone from animal control is talking to Keira.

ANIMAL CONTROLOkay, and have you ever seen this dog Before?

KEIRAI saw him yesterday at the grocery Store.

The animal control worker wirtes some thing down on his clipboard. He starts to walk back to his car.

KEIRAYou’re not going to put him down,Are you?

ANIMAL CONTROLWell, if he ever does it again, then We’ll probably have to. Have a good Night, miss.

KEIRAGood night.

They drive off, and the dog looks out the window. Keira quickly turns away and walks back inside. She notices the claw marks on the wall under the window. There are chunks of the wood scratched off.

Emmy walks over to the towel rack to get a towel . She slips on a puddle of water by the bathtub, and hits her head. She tries to get up, but the whole room is spinning, and she’s unconscious.

INT- LAKE- NIGH TIME

Emmy is in her pajamas. She is walking to the edge of the lake. She starts to walk in, and fully submerges herself under what should be water, but is blood. She comes back up covered in it.

CUT TO:

INT- HALLWAY- NIGH TIME

Emmy is walking inside. She is drenched in blood from head to toe. She is leaving a trail of blood behind her. She hears a crying noise from the room upstairs. She follows it slowly upstairs.

When she gets to the hallway, she walks through it slowly. She finally gets to the room where the crying is coming from. She opens the door, and sees the mother in her bedroom. She is brushing her long silky black hair. She is in her nightgown. There is a music box open, with a clown in the middle. Emmy slowly goes over to The Mother to see what’s wrong. She looks at the hand that brushing her hair.

It is covered in blood. She puts down the brush. The blood has stained the brush.

The Mother turns around and takes Emmy’s hand in hers. She puts something in Emmy’s hand. She opens her hand to see what it is.

It is a piece of flesh from Meredith. The Mother slowly looks up and reveals her eyes. Emmy walks backwards to the window of the room. She stumbles, and falls through the

window. The glass falls onto the ground, with a very large piece standing upright.

Emmy looks at the piece of glass, and her eyes widen. The camera cuts to the next scene right before we can see her get stabbed by the piece of glass.

INT- BATHROOM- NIGHT

Emmy wakes up to hear someone banging on the door. She is lying on the floor of the bathroom.

DYLANHey, hurry it up in there! I knowGirls take a long time in the bathroom,But come on!

EMMYSorry, I’ll be out in a minute.

She opens her hand, and sees that the piece of flesh is still there. She quickly runs to the garbage and throws it out. She then quickly washes her hands off, and runs out of the bathroom.

CUT TO:

EXT- LAKE- NIGHT TIME

Emmy is in her bathing suit. She places her towel on the dock, and then dives into the water. She wades in the water, and lays her head back.

She is suddenly yanked under the water. She comes back up gasping for air. She looks around the lake to see if there’s anyone else, but it’s only her.

EMMYHello? Is anybody there?

Suddenly, The Mother’s head comes up from the water. Emmy looks at her face, and recognizes her from the dream. She quickly gets out of the water, and starts to run for the house.

Keira is walking down the stairs. She goes to the door to lock up for the night.

Emmy is screaming. She is running for the door. The mother is by the edge of the lake, she is running towards her with a knife in her hand. She’s screaming something, but you can’t exactly tell what she’s saying.

Keira locks the door, and starts to walk away.

Emmy gets to the door, and tries to open it, but it’s locked. She starts to bang on the door and scream.

EMMYKeira!! Keira please open the door!!!

Keira hears someone screaming. She goes back to the door to see who it is.

EMMYOh my God!! Somebody!! She’s coming!

Keira looks out the window, and sees that Emmy is locked outside. She looks and sees how close The Mother is to her.

KEIRAEmmy!!

EMMYKeira!! Open the door!!

The Mother is now on the porch. She takes out her knife, and cuts Emmy’s arm. Emmy screams in pain.

Keira quickly opens the door, and slams it shut when Emmy gets inside. Emmy collapses and Keira holds her. Nathan, Mia and Dylan come downstairs.

NATHANIs everything all right?

EMMYShe’s here!! She’s here!!

All the lights suddenly go off. It is dead silent. The sounds of foot steps and creaking floor boards can be heard from upstairs.

EMMYShe’ll kill us all.

MIAWho? Who is she talking about?!

KEIRAShe’s not going to kill us, Emmy.It’s going to be all right.

The foot steps are coming closer and closer. All the windows in the house slam closed. Nathan, Mia and Dylan run downstairs. Emmy gets up and goes to a window. They all try to open them, but they’re locked. No one can get out of the house.

Cut to a POV of The Mother from the top of the stairs. We can hear her heavy breathing.

NATHANI can’t get them open!

MIANeither can I!

KEIRAHey, tonight we’re not going to Separate. We’re going to stick Together. None of are alone at any time, okay?

Everyone agrees on it. Mia stays close to Nathan.

Keira has the knife in her right hand. She is slowly walking down the hallway. It is completely dark. The mother suddenly opens her eyes, and spots Keira.

Keira turns around and sees her. She runs to the end of the hallway. The Mother starts to walk after her with the bloody jagged knife.

Keira shuts herself in the room where Meredith and the baby were killed. She looks at the door and holds her knife up.

The Mother doesn’t even open the door. She just walks right through it. Keira runs to the other end of the room. The door creaks open.

CUT TO:

Nathan is handing everyone a knife to go upstairs.

DYLANNathan, are you crazy?!

Keira is at the far end of the room, the Mother has her in a corner. Keira plunges the knife into The Mother’s heart. The Mother bends down, and limps over.

KEIRATake that, bitch.

The Mother looks up, and stands straight. She slowly pulls the knife out of her chest. Now she has two knives.

Close up on the wound. Keira looks at it in shock. She runs to the other end of the room. The Mother catches her, and stabs her in the leg. Keira yells out in pain.

The group hears her scream, and they run upstairs.

Keira is on the floor. Her leg is bleeding heavily. The Mother is standing over her. She takes the jagged knife, and stabs Keira in the neck. Keira screams and coughs out blood. CUT TO:

Nathan is outside of the room. He kneels down and looks through the crack. Mia comes over to him. We start to hear the crunching sounds of The Mother carving into Keira.

NATHANMia, whatever you do, don’t look.

She makes the mistake of looking in the crack. Her eyes widen, and she covers her mouth. Nathan comes over and covers her eyes.

NATHANWhatever you do, don’t scream.

Mia is trying not to scream. She is shaking, and silently crying. The sounds of crunching and slicing of flesh are heard. Emmy and Dylan can hear the sounds as well. Emmy is trying not to cry.

The sounds suddenly stop. Nathan looks inside to see if The Mother is gone. She is nowhere to be found in the room. Nathan gives the signal to go into the room to search for her, but she is nowhere to be found. They look down and see the bloody misshapen body that was Keira.

Her eyes have been cut out, and her arm has been shopped off. Emmy turns around so she doesn’t have to look at the body.

DYLANWe have to get help. Emmy, we’llNeed to use your car to fit us all.

EMMYFine, I’ll drive.

CUT TO:

EXT- KEIRA’S HOUSE- NIGHT TIME

Everyone is getting into Emmy’s SUV. Mia leans against the trunk of the car. Nathan comes over to get her.

MIAI miss mom and dad. I want to go home.

NATHANHey, I promise you when we get home,We’ll call them. Okay?

Emmy is driving slowly when they finally get to the town. They stop the car, and they quickly get out. They spread out and knock on some people’s doors, but no one is answering.

EMMYWhere the fuck is everybody?!

Dylan is banging on someone’s door, when he looks in the window. There is a man sitting on his couch with a broken beer bottle by his feet. He has been stabbed in the chest, and his partly chopped off tongue is hanging out of his mouth.

DYLANYou guys! They’re all dead!!

MIAWhat?

DYLANEveryone is dead! Look inside the houses.

They look inside the windows of the houses. We see a succession of shots of people in various houses, who have all been brutally been murdered.

DYLANShe’s killed everyone. We’re the Only one’s who are left.

The street lights suddenly start to flicker on and off. They start to look around for The Mother. All of the lights go off except for two of them.

They all run into a black smith shop. They find various shelves to hide behind. They see the shadow of The Mother walking past the store.

The store is dimly lit. There is a fireplace that’s still burning.

Cut to The Mother’s POV. She pushes the door to the black smith shop open very slowly. It makes a large creaking noise. She walks in, and looks around.

Mia is behind a shelf near the right side of the store. She’s shutting her eyes closed very tightly. The Mother walks right passed her.

Emmy is behind the counter with Nathan. She spots a crowbar on the floor, and quietly hands it to Nathan. He whispers to Emmy.

NATHANThanks.

The Mother suddenly stops. She slowly starts to walk to the counter. Nathan and Emmy can see her shadow getting closer and closer. He clutches the crowbar even tighter.

Dylan is crouching behind a shelf in the far corner of the room. He sees The Mother slowly creeping towards the counter where Nathan and Emmy are hiding. He quickly grabs a hammer off of the shelf, and throws it to the other side of the room.

The Mother stops, and turns around. She starts to go to the other side of the room. Dylan notions with his hand to go to the basement of the store. He quietly creeps over to where The Mother is standing. Mia looks over to where Dylan is.

He slowly walks up to the shelf behind The Mother, and pushes it over. The shelf falls on top of her.

They all get up and run to the basement door. When they’re running downstairs, The Mother lifts herself up through the shelf, and she walks over to the door to the basement.

INT-BASEMENT- SAME TIME

Everyone is running down to the very large basement. It is sticky and gross. Pipes are dripping. There is a fire in the furnace going. Dylan trips, and falls to the floor. He cuts the side of his head. Mia stops and tries to help him.

MIADylan!!

DYLANI’m fine.

She helps him up to his feet. She runs to catch up with the others, but Dylan limps behind. It’s a pretty long way from the top of the stairs to the floor.

The Mother starts to come down the stairs. She sees Dylan, and starts to walk towards him. Emmy looks up and screams.

EMMYDylan, look out!!!

Cut to The Mother’s POV. Dylan turns around, and starts run. Dylan trips, and falls over the top of the stairs and onto the floor. He lets out a painful grunt. Emmy runs to try to help Dylan. The Mother is coming down the stairs. Mia and Nathan are running out the door to outside.

NATHANGuys, come on!!! Let’s go!

EMMYI’m not leaving Dylan!!

The Mother is getting closer and closer.

Emmy is fighting back tears.

Emmy hugs Dylan, and runs to join Mia and Nathan. Dylan pushes himself up. He grabs a crowbar, and throws it at The Mother. The Mother throws him to the ground.

He tries to get himself up, but he can’t. The Mother grabs him by the neck and starts to choke him. Dylan is gasping for breath. She drags him over to the fire pit, and throws him onto the floor. She grabs an axe that has been lying in the fire, and makes her way towards Dylan.

Dylan is crawling to the door, when The Mother takes the axe and swings it into the part of the back where the neck meets the back. Dylan screams out in pain.

CUT TO:

EXT- TOWN STREET- SAME TIME

Nathan, Mia and Emmy are outside in the street. They hear Dylan screaming. Emmy starts to shake, and falls to the ground. Mia and Nathan run over to comfort her.

INT- BASEMENT- SAME TIME

The Mother is dragging the axe down Dylan’s back. His spine is poking through the wound. Dylan coughs up blood, and then dies. The Mother takes his body and tosses it into the fire, where his body starts to slowly burn away.

Emmy is still on the floor. Nathan tries to get her up on her feet, but she stays.

Emmy wipes away the tears from her face, and takes a deep breath. Mia suddenly looks at the door to the basement, which is creeping open.

They run across the street. Nathan looks over to a pharmacy that has a phone on the desk.

Nathan runs into the pharmacy across the street.

He runs in, and goes to the desk where the phone is. Emmy spots a toy store that has its door unlocked.

Nathan finds the phone on the desk. He picks it up, and dials 911. It rings three times before someone picks up.

The phone suddenly goes dead. The electricity goes off. Nathan slams the phone down on the receiver.

NATHANShit!

The Mother suddenly walks into the store. She slams the knife down into Nathan’s hand. Nathan screams in pain.

Mia and Emmy are hiding in the toy store. There are creepy clowns and dolls lining the shelves, along with lots of other old toys. Mia is looking by the door to see if Nathan is coming.

MIAWhat’s taking him so long?

EMMYMaybe he’s been put on hold or something. They sometimes do that.

Mia tries to wait patiently, but she can’t. She looks around the store. She starts to hear the sounds of clown laughing evilly. She tries to shut it out, but she can’t.

There is suddenly a loud thud at the center of the room. Mia creeps out from behind the counter to see what it is.

She sees Nathan’s bloody body in the center of the room, and she screams. She bends down and holds her brother’s dead body close to hers. Emmy comes out from behind the room.

Emmy tries to calm herself down for Mia’s sake. Emmy tries to pull Mia away from Nathan, and she pulls her out of the store. There is blood on Mia from Nathan.

CUT TO:

EXT- TOWN STREET- NIGHT TIME

Emmy hugs Mia as she sobs. The two remaining street lights flicker on and off again, and finally the lights go off. The street is now completely black.

EMMYMia, we have to go get help. We Need to go to my car, and drive To the next town over.

Mia calms down and shakes her head. They run to Emmy’s car. She starts the engine, and speeds away.

The door to the house creaks open. They slowly walk inside. All the lights are off. The only light is coming from the moon. Emmy and Mia walk into the house slowly. They look around.

The shadow of The Mother passes by Emmy. She looks behind her, but sees nothing.

MIAAre you sure she’s here?

EMMYI’m positive.

They suddenly hear screaming from the room upstairs.

Emmy and Mia slowly make their way upstairs. They walk down the hallway to the room. They get to the door, and Mia points down to the floor.

There is a very thin trail of blood making its way out of the door. Emmy slowly turns the knob, and pushes the door open, ready to attack.

Emmy and Mia slowly make their way to the crib, and look in.

The baby son is lying in the crib. Emmy reaches in, and picks him up. The baby starts to whimper. Mia strokes his face.

The Mother grabs Mia by the hair and throws her to the ground. Emmy turns around, and finally sees The Mother face to face. The Mother slowly paces towards Emmy with the knife. Emmy slowly backs away towards the end of the room.

Mia grabs The Mother’s ankle, and makes her fall to the ground. Mia quickly gets up and runs out the door with Emmy and the baby.

EMMYThanks.

The Mother gets up and chases after them. She grips the knife even tighter now.

INT- HALLWAY- SAME TIME

Emmy and Mia are running down the stairs. They run into the kitchen and hide behind a wall.

MIAWhat are you going to do with The baby?

Emmy reaches into a drawer and pulls out a hammer. She gives it to Mia, and takes out a screwdriver for herself.

The Mother comes into the kitchen and looks for them. Mia and Emmy slowly creep over to the front door. They open the front door, but it makes a small creaking noise, and the mother hears them. She looks over, and makes her way towards them.

Emmy looks at The Mother, and then the baby. She takes the screwdriver, and holds it above him. The Mother stops dead in her tracks.

EMMYDon’t come closer.

The Mother doesn’t say anything, she is dead silent. The baby starts to cry. The Mother stays where she is.

Emmy starts to come closer to her. She slowly holds out her arms, and gives The Mother the baby. The Mother raises her knife over the baby.

She’s about to stand it when Emmy pushes her out of the way. She twists The Mother’s arm, and her knife goes into the space between the two bones in the fore arm. Emmy wails out in pain. The scream can be heard for miles.

Mia runs over with the hammer in her hand. The Mother has Emmy on the ground. The Mother is crawling slowly towards her. Emmy is trying to get away from her.

The Mother grabs Emmy’s ankle, and pulls Emmy to the ground. Emmy stabs The Mother in the arm. The Mother lets out a sound that’s a mix of a hiss and a scream.

Mia runs over, and throws the sharp part of the hammer down onto the back of The Mother’s hand. The Mother lets out a hiss/scream that’s even louder than the first. Emmy gets up and runs over to Mia.

The baby disintegrates, and disappears into thin air. The Mother’s rotting flesh is slowly peeling off of her bones. She falls over and dies. There is nothing left of her. Emmy and Mia take a minute to let what happened sink in.

They both walk over to the car. They get in, and Emmy speeds away.

Emmy and Mia are driving down the road. They have been driving for a good half an hour. Emmy looks over at Mia, who is looking out the window.

Emmy reaches over and strokes Mia’s hair. She gives Mia a warm smile.

Emmy goes back to driving. A truck suddenly comes out of nowhere and crashes into their car.

A piece of glass lodges into Mia’s left shoulder. Emmy just gets some cuts. Emmy turns and sees the piece of glass in Mia’s arm.

She turns around and sees the fire in the truck that’s slowly making its way to the front of the truck.

Mia nods her head. They struggle to get their seat belts off. Emmy uses all her strength, and slams herself against her car door to get it open. She gets out, and sees Mia trying to open hers.

Emmy reaches out her arms. Mia grabs them, and Emmy pulls her out of the car. The flames finally make their way to the car, and it explodes.

Emmy starts to lose consciousness, and she goes black. The whole screen is black.

CUT TO:

INT- HOSPITAL- DAY TIME

Emmy is in a hospital bed. She awakes to the sound of the beeping heart monitor. She slowly opens her eyes, and sits up in her bed. She turns around and looks out her window. It’s a beautiful sunny day out.

A doctor comes into her room with a clipboard in his hand.

DOCTORHello, Emmy. How are you feelingToday?

EMMYI’m okay? Where’s Mia?

DOCTORWho, the other girl who was with You? Oh, she’s here also. Would You like to see her?

Emmy nods her head. The Doctor leaves, and comes back with Mia. She has stitches on her forehead and a bandage on her arm. Her face is also a little bruised.

Emmy closes her eyes, and sees The Mother standing at her doorway with the knife in hand. She’s soaking the floor with blood.

Emmy opens her eyes, and gasps. She can’t breathe. Mia stops hugging her, and looks at Emmy, whose eyes are wide and vacant.

MIAEmmy? Emmy are you okay?

Emmy is having a fear induced heart attack. She starts to shake. Mia gets up from the bed. The police pull up to the hospital. They come in and talk to one of the nurses.

MIAHelp!! Nurse, we need help!

The heart monitor starts to beep incredibly fast. The doctor and two nurses rush in and try to help Emmy. Her heart monitor has a flat line.

Emmy’s body jolts violently. A single drop of blood leaks out of her mouth. The heart monitor stays flat. The doctor puts the machine away.

Mia tries not to cry. The two cops and the nurse they were talking to come in.

COP #1We’re looking for Mia Portman.

MIAI’m Mia.

Two of the nurses take Mia’s arms, and start to take her down the hall.

COP #1Ms. Portman, you are under arrestFor the murders of Nathan Portman,Keira Starling and Dylan Meyers.

Mia goes into shock as the cops tell her Miranda rights. She tries to break free of the nurses, but they keep a strong hold on her.

MIANo, it wasn’t me!!

She breaks free and runs down the hall, but the nurses grab her. Mia is now in hysterics.

They leave her, and slam the door closed. It is completely silent. Suddenly, she starts to hear the pink elephant song in her head. She makes her way to the door and starts to shout.

MIALet me out!! Somebody let me outOf here!!! PLEASE, SOMBODY!!!

Mia falls to the ground. She can’t get the song out of her head. All of the awful things that happened the other nigh tare flashing back into her head.

-Keira’s body lying on the floor.

-Nathan’s dead body falling to the ground.
