Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Set in the Old Quarter of Palma de Mallorca behind a discreet entrance, the all-suites Can Bordoy from local rm OHLAB reimagines a 16th-century building that was a former private home and school. Do ed with bright, cocooning furniture, the entrance courtyard serves as the property’s muse with references to its sprawling garden woven throughout—most prevalent in the onsite restaurant Botànic, where one room is covered in plants and another is lined with illustrations of botanicals and buoyed by birdcages dangling from the ceiling. “Vegetation informs much of the interior space and interacts with the architecture,” says property owner Mikael Hall. “Plants and greenery climb across the interior walls and roofs of the property, creating an organic, comfortable feeling.” The 24 suites are decidedly modern. Some are duplexes with spiral staircases, and others overlook the garden and conceal TVs behind mirrors. Seductive ceiling-height curtains create intimate pockets of space within, while deep, freestanding egg-shaped bathtubs are centerpieces of the marble bathrooms. Dramatic, custom lighting accentuates each space, with the bespoke walnut beds standing out in particular as handcra ed works of art.
