Beats by Dr. Dre

To celebrate the sound of winning and to congratulate Germany, Beats by Dr. Dre have created the ultimate prize to go with the ultimate sporting victory: a set of 24 (for the 23 man squad and manager), 24 carat gold dipped Beats Pro's, which will be gifted to the German team.

To commemorate the win, Beats have commissioned fashion photographer Rankin to create a celebratory salute to the victory starring the Gold Beats Pro headphones and Naomi Campbell, titled 'Golden'. The new work sees Naomi as the World Cup trophy adorned in gold high fashion and sporting the Gold Beats Pros.

Beats Pros are the gold standard of headphones used by musicians in the studio, designed to deliver the same level of emotion and power the artist intended when they recorded. Now adopted by top athletes from a variety of sports across the world to get them in the zone, these Special 24c Gold Pro Headphones are the perfect prize for an amazing sporting achievement.

Speaking about the shoot, Naomi Campbell commented:

"Working on the 'Golden' project with Beats by Dr. Dre was so much fun. The shoot was loud and energetic…I even got to practice my football skills! This was the first time I've had the chance to work with the legendary

Rankin, so it was a dream shoot. The 'Golden' project is the perfect way to celebrate the German victory and I'm glad to be a part of this campaign."

Speaking on the Beats by Dr. Dre commission, Rankin commented:

"Beats by Dr.Dre are mixing their link to sport with one of today's most recognisable fashion icons. Naomi, one of the most well-known supermodels in the world, is a great partnership - it's her attitude I really love, it's the perfect pairing."

One of the hottest trends for 2012 was crochet shorts and not surprisingly the trend has carried over.

What is so great about crochet shorts?

In my opinion there are two great things about these type of shorts. They are super comfortable and very versatile. If I had to label my fashion spending preferences then it would be that I am a “minimalist.” I like to purchase few wardrobe pieces, the ones I do buy are pieces that have to be versatile and can be used in many different combinations throughout the year.

These shorts are an excellent example of a wardrobe piece that I would invest my money in. They are not only very casual which makes them easy to dress up but, they are also easy to style with warmer pieces in my wardrobe and be able to use them during the fall and winter months.

Here are three different styling ideas for crochet shorts.

It is here that while on leave from her career as a Univer-sity Professor she created Siempre Guapa in March of 2014. More Than A Model

We had the delightful opportunity to attend Miami Fashion Week a few months ago. During one of the final nights of the event we ran into the ladies of the fashion blog “LadyCode.” As we began to get to know more about this

group of fashionistas, Lisa began to stand out as a leader. The more we began to learn about Lisa it became evident that we must share her story. Simplemente Magazine: Lisa, where did all begin? Tell us about yourself and what drives you to live life to the fullest.

Although I was born in Denver, Colorado, I do not know what to say when people ask me where I am from. I was blessed to be born into a bilingual, multicultural family. My mother is Japanese and my father is from Texas, therefore I am fluent in English and Japanese. I was home schooled and given the opportunity to travel across the country and internationally while completing my elementary education. I have traveled to 48 of the 50 states (I have yet to visit Alaska and Maine), traveled to 28 countries, and I have lived in Colorado, California, Illinois, Virginia, Texas, Delaware, and North Dakota, as well as Japan, Barbados, and Spain. EDUCATION & SCHOLASTIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS I was homeschooled for elementary school, attended a private Christian school for middle school and attended public schools for high school. I completed my undergraduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in history. During my undergraduate studies I spent a semester abroad at the University of Barcelona studying the politics of the European Union, and another semester at the University of the West Indies where I studied Caribbean perspectives of the African Diaspora.

During all four years of my time at VCU, I held leadership positions. In 2009, I ran a successful campaign for Vice President of my Hall Council in my residential building. That semester, I also ran for Senator in the VCU Student Government Association. As an SGA Senator, I served as Chair of the Student Dining Services Subcommittee, Applicant Liaison and Treasurer of the SGA Appointments Committee, and a member of the Student Life committee. I was then appointed to be an Executive Aide of the VCU Student Government Association during my senior year. As a junior, I was selected to participate in the prestigious Capital Semester Program where I interned for Senator Frank Wagner and Delegate Christopher Peace. During that time, I also founded my own organization, the Japanese Student Association. I was also a founding member of Zeta Tau Alpha’s Lambda Eta chapter and served as the fraternity’s first appointed Director of Academics.

Simplemente Magazine: Getting to know you, we learned that you are very passionate about life and giving back. In what ways have you involved yourself in influencing culture? POLITICAL INVOLVEMENTHaving been homeschooled as a young student, I was raised to be an independent thinker. I became passionate about politics at a young age. Although I was not old enough to vote, I learned the process of federal elections and was interested in learning more. As a freshman in college originally majoring in Art, I became more and more involved in politics. I earned two scholarships to attend seminars at the Leadership Institute in Washington DC. After spending my spring break volunteering for the successful campaign of Senator Rand Paul in 2010, I was given the opportunity to be a delegate to the Southern Republican Leadership Convention in 2010 where I met Michael Steele, Mike Pence, and Ron Paul.

Although most of my involvement may seem to be with the Republican party, I do not claim to be associated with any political party. Each party has its errors. I enjoy studying politics and I approach it with an open mind. PAGEANTRYThroughout middle school and high school, I was bullied by my peers for the way that I looked and acted. I was able to overcome my struggle with bullying through pageantry. Being a contestant in a pageant required me to be healthy, fit, confident, and philanthropic. I have held the titles of Miss Teen Williamsburg, Miss American Samoa, Miss North Dakota, Miss Virgin Islands, Miss Florida Nationwide, and I am currently Miss Nationwide 2014. I placed in the top 8 at Miss Virginia United States, top 5 at Miss United States 2012, and top 15 at Miss United States 2013. I believe that pageants are not about winning that sash and crown, but it is about who you become in the process.

Simplemente Magazine: It is never business as usual these days, tell us a little about your business ventures. LADYCODEThe LadyCode was created by my best friend and I, with the goal of promoting wellness. Passionate about putting an end to bullying, we are working together to provide those who are bullied with the support and inspiration to live a healthy, fit, and confident lifestyle.

VIZCAYA SWIMWEARIn spring of 2012, I stumbled into my career. I have been modeling since the age of 14 and decided to use my network that I had established in the fashion industry to incorporate a swimwear line. I named my line Vizcaya Swimwear after the street that I lived on in Barcelona, Carrer De Vizcaya. With the help and support of my network and friends in the industry, I have been able to show my designs on the runways of New York, Atlanta, Richmond, and Miami. Although my original plan was to become a foreign consulate or earn my Juris Doctor, I am very pleased with the way things have turned out for my business. In 2014, Vizcaya Swimwear became the official swimwear sponsor of the Miss United States Organization. Simplemente Magazine: We always love sharing the thoughts and passions of those with whom we interview. Please share one inspiring thought for our readers. "A few years ago, I felt that nothing was going the way I wanted them to for me. It seemed like nothing was working out. However, I learned that champions are made from adversity and everything truly happens for a reason. I am so thankful for the challenges that I faced in the past, because I would not be who I am today without them - Lisa Opie.

Lisa Opie, has become more than just a model, more than a pageant winner, more than a student. Lisa has become a brand and that is where it all begins and the limitless possibilities come into focus.

It is unbelievable how much things society use every day can harm us negatively. In the article “How Social Media Can Hurt Your Career” by Rachel Zupek the article displays the most common ways a person’s career can be harm by social media and the author used several examples to explain the situation. At the beginning of the article states how much social media has grown

to the point that is the last branding strategy. People use it as a networking technique, job seeking tool and recruitment vehicle, but it has also become the latest way for people to get job offers rescinded, reprimanded at work and fired.

The first example by the author is how a person’s tweet totally changed the opportunity of obtaining a job offer. The person shared on twitter without thinking twice how Cisco offered it a job and the person expressed how much they will hate the job, but it did not matter because they will receive a “fatty paycheck”. A Cisco current employee commented the tweet posted; and said that they will like to know who the hiring manager was, and inform them the person’s desires towards the job. Similarly, the author shared another terrible tweet and suggested people should be aware of what they post because it can damage those more than what it will benefit them.

Another example the author shared, was when Paul Wilson posted on a social networking and micro-blogging site “Top 10 Tweets to Get You Fired.” In there it displayed tweets relating to hating a job, judging the job surroundings and environment, bad spelling and profanity post, and inappropriate actions on the job which can lead to get fired. The author explained three basic rules to always keep in mind; never announce interviews raises or new jobs, do not badmouth your current or previous employed, and do not mention your job search if you are still employed.

I strongly agree with the article and social media does harm society more than what will beneficiates. Twitter Facebook and Instagram are social networks use by many anywhere and at any time and most of the time they do not even realize the stuff they post, can affect their current or future job. In fact, more than half of my followers on Instagram post stuff that now it might not affect them now but in the future it will such as: profanity, sex, alcohol and drugs images. I understand if you like to do these things, but was the reason for you to post it and let the world know about your personal life. I do not judge anyone but I believe that is something should be keep just for you, due to reason that it will affect you later on if you decide to take a step into the professional world.

It is important to realize, that as a society we always tend to base our actions and decisions in stereotypes. The first places we stereotype are in social networks by inappropriate post we find. Therefore, future business owners, journalist, psychologist and even teachers should be aware of what they post in social networks. What would be the first thing will come to a person’s mind if they see their teacher in a picture posted in Facebook smoking marijuana? In my case will be this person is not capable to advise me or tell what or what not do. In simple words, we should be aware of what we expose or let others expose about our life because sometimes it can change the perception others have about us in a negative way that they can lose respect. Additionally, “Tell me who your friends are and I tell you who you are” is an idiom commonly use in the Dominican Republic and more Hispanics country. Actually, my mom use it all the time and she tells me be aware of who I hang around with because I will be judge by the same wrong stuff they do even though I am not doing it with them. For example, if the friends I am surrounded by use drugs and kill people, but I do not do this stuff with them. Since they are my friends I will be judge and consider part of doing the wrong actions as well. We not only in the good moments but in the bad ones to, if I am capable to be with them when they having fun I should be capable to take the blame of using drugs like they do. For this reason, we should be

aware of who we are surrounded by and learn to pick friends with positive desires.

Another key point is that simple things like having an argument with someone where profanity is used can affect you later on. I have never got into a situation like this, but I know people that have. You can comment a picture on Facebook that says “Who is better Batman or Superman”. You said Superman is better, and an individual you do not even know commented that you are an unscrupulous bastard that does not know about quality. These are really strong words capable of overriding anger which can lead to the use of profanity as a way to defend you. The individual that commented is an ignorant person who does not respect other opinion, and the right decision to make is ignoring the post. Therefore, we should be more aware of our reactions to problems in social network, but also be aware of what we reply, post, and say in social networks because that could be the turn down for a life time opportunity.

To finalize, always be aware of what you do today because it can affect you tomorrow. Dr. Steve Maraboli once said “If you hang out with chickens, you’re going to cluck and if you hang out with eagles, you’re going to fly.”

Meet Jesse Wall

Meet Jesse Wall an Ohio-bred and Miami based model, skateboarder, singer and all around rebel chick, Jesse is definitely one to watch. Her rock and roll kind of style

and her down to earth attitude makes her a Miami fa-vorite. You have most likely seen her slinging cocktails like a champion behind some of the best watering holes in town, including Rec Room at the Gale Hotel, and Bardot in the very artsy Wynwood area.

Jesse was recently featured in Haute Living and Ocean Drive. However over the years, Jesse has walked the runway for designers such as Giovanni, Ed Hardy, Smet, and Christial Audigier. In addition Jesse has also appeared on television shows including America's Next Top Model Cycle 5, Sunset Tan, and Super Swank on the Travel Channel, and Maxim magazine to name a few.

She is an avid yogi and is currently working towards be-coming certified in Bikram. She also plans to design and develop her own yoga wear line.

Keep yours eyes peeled because there is much more of Jesse to come!!!

What is a bit of advice you could offer to models or actors to up their game?

As a model or an actor you are going to wear clothing or be in scenes that you may think are very unflattering for you. However, it is up to you to bring out the best in that unflattering design with your confidence and the way you engage the audience. Bring yourself out through that character and forget about that unflattering design. Give us a fun runway moment: There was a show I did in California, I look back at those pictures and I'm like, what the hell am I doing? Did I have a Diana Ross moment or something? I would never do that on a runway! Throw my arms up in the air, oh my! I don't even remember doing it, but when you're doing it you really get into it. How do you stay the course?

Patience. Patience is key. It doesn't happen overnight. Name one highlight of your career: Being recognized. Being awarded. Being honored for being who you are. That's a highlight. How did you create your Blaze persona?

It happened on the spot. I was asked to describe myself in one word and it just came to me, Blaze. I went on to explain it as to how I was blazing trails, but it stuck. They started calling me Blaze. Advice for the universe: Love yourself. Be you. Strive to inspire those that have inspired you.
