System Survey Form

Treatability/Screening- ATP test

System Survey

*CATER™ Mobile App will be available in Summer of 2015

System Survey: PAIN

System Survey: AnalyticalOnsite Testing

System Survey: Process Flow Diagram (PFD )

• There is an area on the form to include a small sketch of the treatment schematic

• An alternative option is to scan a diagram of the facility to your sales representative for future reference and technical support (see example below)

System Survey: Return on Investment (ROI)

• The second page of the system survey has a focus on financial aspects and areas where records could be kept to help provide an ROI calculation

System Survey: Summary

• This is an essential “clipboard” document and should be conducted every time the facility is visited for record keeping purposes• Helpful Hint: Attach cheat sheets to your clipboard• See following slides

• Also allows you to determine if there is an opportunity to help the client

CATER™ Tool Kit

• Contains all the in-field real time tools necessary to assess an opportunity• Combined individual test cost is under $10.00 site

CATER™ Field Kit

System Survey: Cheat Sheet

System Survey: Desired Ranges

pH, Temperature, Alkalinity, **ATP test

*Ammonia, *Phosphate, *Nitrate, *Nitrite, Temperature,

Dissolved Oxygen, ORP * If filtered before testing

** If only tested on initial visit or as desired

CATER™ Onsite Testing

Demonstration Of Tests

• MDG sales representative will demonstrate use of CATER field kit

• Videos are available for reference in your private log-in access at the MDG website

ATP Testing

Test in Progress

• The objective of this testing procedure is to determine the impact an influent wastewater sample has on Biotifx™ product

• Health/Toxicity is measured based on the amount of cellular (living ATP) present in the sample after treatment after 30 minutes of aeration in a standard (Biotifx™ only) vs. test (Biotifx™ and known volume of influent)

ATP Testing: Terminology

• Cellular ATP= Living cell mass• Total ATP= Total cell mass• Free ATP= Dead cell mass

ATP Testing: Basic Interpretation Of Results

• If “X” amount of sample is added to a Biotifx™ solution, is there an increase or decrease in cellular (living) ATP?• If cellular ATP increases, the test passes• If cellular ATP decreases, the test fails

• Note, this is in yellow as in caution, not red

• At this point, technical support becomes involved to determine what the limiting factor may be

ATP Testing: Interpretation of Results

• Record Total and Free ATP values for both the standard and the test sample and plot

• Note that cellular ATP (living amount) is not tested for directly, but calculated by subtracting free ATP value from Total ATP value

There is a net increase in Cellular ATP so the screening test passed

ATP Testing: Clipboard Document

ATP Testing: Notes

• If the test does not pass after 30 minutes, repeat the procedure after 45 and after 60 minutes• Occasionally more than 30 minutes is needed to

see a response• Always collect as much GS PATTON™ data as

possible on the influent sample• If the test fails, it may be due to low pH, toxicity,

or lack of nutrients

ATP Testing: Failed Sample Results

• If the GS PATTON™ parameters are not known, take the influent sample back to the lab and determine if nutrients, pH, or alkalinity are limiting• A failed test does not mean we can’t help them, it just

means other changes may useful in addition to Biotifx™

• Send a influent sample into MDG for a treatability test

Simple Start™ Reminder

Remember to have the following:

Facility Survey Form

Onsite Testing Kit

ATP Testing Kit (if needed)

Simple Start™ Proposal

Based on your site visit, a successful ATP test could justify a proposal and initiation of a project and purchase

Summary

• The most essential materials to have on a site visit (clipboard documents)• Facility Survey Form• Including cheat sheet for onsite

testing • On Site Testing Kit• Microscopic evaluation sample bottles• ATP Screening Test Equipment• First Time only

• Based on the information obtained, a proposal can be made to initiate a project
