    SIMPLE PAST TENSE AND PAST PROGRESSIVE

    Use the past progressive (past continuous) to describe an action that was in progress ata specific time in the past. The action began before the specific time and may or may notcontinue after it.

    Ex: They were living in Paris in 1895.

    Use the simple past tense to describe an action or state that was completed at aspecific time in the past.

    Ex: She moved to Paris when she was 28.

    Use the past progressive with the simple past tense to talk about an action that wasinterrupted by another action. Use the simple past tense for the interrupting action .

    You can use while (with the past progressive) or when (with the simple past) to connectthe two actions.

    Ex: They were driving when the accident occurred. or When the accidentoccurred , they were driving .

    The accident occurred while they were driving. or While they were driving ,

    the accident occurred.

    COUNTABLE AND UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

    Countable nouns are those which you can determine by a certain number. You can use

    them with a cardinal number . Ex: I have five applesUncountable nouns are those which are not possible to count. So, they do not have aplural form . You must use them with an adjective like some, much, any , etc. Ex:

    Use much with uncountable nouns to express an amount.Ex: I drink much water. Yo bebo mucha agua

    Use many with plural (countable) nouns to express a number of objects or people.

    Ex: I have many books. Yo tengo muchos librosUse there is (with singular or uncountable nouns) or there are (with plural formsof countable nouns) to express the existence of something.

    Ex: Theres a radio in the classroom. Hay unaradio en el saln de clase

    Theres some snow at the street. Hay algo de nieve en la calle.

    Therere many boys at the class. Hay muchos muchachos en la clase.

    Use how much (with uncountable nouns) and how many (with countable nouns)to ask for the quantity or amount of something.

    Ex: How much homework do you have? I have a lot of homeworkCunto de tarea tienes? Tengo mucha tarea
