Simple Machines
• By Caleb, Damian and Shane
This is an inclined plane. An inclined plane is a surface connecting a lower level to a higher level. It makes it easier to go up the ramp if you have wheels.
This simple machine is a lever. A level is a straight rod or bar that pivots on a point know as a fulcrum. It lifts or moves loads. It makes it easier because it lifts heavy objects.
THIS simple machine is a screw. A inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder. It makes it easier to hold things together.
Is a wedge. A wedge is two inclined planes join back to back. One example of a wedge is door wedge It makes lt easier to hold the door.
This is a wheel and axle. A wheel and axle is a wheel with a rod through it. The real-world examples of a wheel and axle that we show here are the wheels on a motorcycle and the dumbbell. The wheels on the motorcycle make riding it easier by rolling so that the motorcycle moves.
This is an example of a pulley. A pulley is a machine that uses wheels and rope to raise, lower, or move a load. My real world example is a boy pulling the line from the American flag to make it rise high into the air.
