Introduction

The Career Choices Test measures work tendencies, work preferences, job-related character, personality, and interpersonal relating – collectively called Emotional Intelligence (EI). Emotional Intelligence is a type of Job Aptitude that has been found in many research studies to be the single best predictor of job success and of job fulfillment. The answer blank that you filled out is the very best way to collect the information needed for a thorough assessment of EI. Every word we use on the test page is designed to measure specific job traits. For example, sales people are “assertive” …, firemen are “courageous” …, executives are “decisive” …, counselors are “caring”…, etc. The 720 words you saw and chose from were each individual, thoroughly tested questions, resulting in over 10,000 precise calculations. Our test has been successfully used for over 29 years. It has been proven in studies to be at least 99% accurate. 95% of the hundreds of thousands of people who take our test have been in agreement with the results. In addition to career guidance, companies all over the world use our test to hire successful, long-term employees. Companies have found that if an applicant scores high for a job, they will be successful. They have also found that those who score low for a job either will not do the job well OR they will not like it and will leave soon.

Follow The Step By Step Instructions. Step I. Read Your EI Scores: Look at the two Overview Pages. On these pages are bar graphs showing your 13 Emotional Intelligence job traits (from Scientific to Work Pace). Each trait is individually very important to job performance and to career choice. Above each scale is a description of what the scale measures. "O" is how you said others see you on Part 1 of the test. Your others score is graphed as a blue bar. ▄▄▄▄▄▄ "S" is how you said you see yourself on Part 2 of the test. Your self score is graphed as a green bar. ▄▄▄▄▄▄ '>' (arrows) show the amount of Variability or score range you have (for "O" or "S"). Stop to carefully read, understand, and verify each characteristic shown on the Overview Pages. Note that the scores on the Overview Pages always come directly from the words you checked or didn’t check. For example: If you checked many words like friendly, outgoing, and talkative, AND did not check many words like withdrawn, reserved, and aloof, you will definitely get a high score on our Public scale. A. If you see that the scores on the Overview Pages are correct (they are correct over 99% of the time), the rest of the report will be absolutely correct. B. If you do not agree with your scores on the Overview Pages, ask someone who knows you well – who will be honest with you. If, after careful study, you and others find that the scores on the Overview Pages are not correct, it is because you did not check the words that best represent you. You may have been tired, rushed, upset about something, etc. If so, we will let you take the test again – free of any additional charge.

Career Report for Danielle Rainis February 12, 2007 Account #:6041 Page 4 Step II.

Step II. Compare Your “O” and “S” Scores: As you saw on the answer blank and on the Overview Pages, we measure both how you believe others see you AND how you see yourself. This is because your true aptitude may be found in one, the other, or both scores. Why do we measure how others see you? Very often, there are aspects of our behavior that others see, but we do not. Sometimes we have “blind spots”, not accurately seeing what we do. At the same time, we are aware that others say things or treat us in certain ways – letting us know how they feel about us. Also, many people feel one way and purposely act another way to others. In this case, both our feelings AND our behavior are correct and important. If all our test did was to measure your “self” concept, we would miss this important information from others.

A. Does "S" represent your "comfort zone" - the way you naturally feel and behave, AND "O" is the way you behave, to meet others' expectations or to better succeed in an important setting (such as a job)? If so, you can use the "Self" Career Pages to find jobs that fit you just the way you are, involving less stress. You can also use the "Others" Career Pages to find jobs that fit the roles you have learned how to do, although role-playing will involve more effort and stress. B. If the description in A. above is not true for you, then only your "O" OR "S" scores are correct, not both. If "O" (Others) is much lower than "S" (Self), it may mean that there are one or more significant people in your life who feel negatively about you. You were thinking about these people when you filled out the section on “How Others See Me”. It may be that these other people are biased and unfair in their evaluation and treatment of you. However, in some cases this score pattern (low “O”, high “S”) occurs when others are right and we do not want to admit that they are correct. Think for a while. Which is more accurate - how you said others see you "O" OR how you described yourself "S"? Then find your best careers from the corresponding Career Pages ("Others" OR "Self" - not from both).
