Little Mix.

On Little Mix’s website, there is a banner featuring the four members of the band. In this banner, they rely heavily on their femininity in their poses. This is something that we have thought of using for our video/ancillary task, as many girl bands use this.

The use of pink on blue is used to appeal to both genders, as they are the traditional ‘gender’ colours; blue for male and pink for female. This is something we could consider using in our ancillary tasks, so that we do not exclude males from our target audience.

In their first video, Wings, they include lots of close ups of the band, something we will definitely also use as our video would be our ‘band’s’ first video.

Little Mix follows The Spice Girls’ lead and gives each member their own distinct trait. I don’t really like this idea because it seems like they’re trying to hard to personalise the band, so we probably won’t use it in our video.

Complex synchronised dance routine: just no. They look good if the people in the band are good dancers (which they are), but if they’re not (which we’re not) or if they’re not athletic enough to keep it up the whole video (which we’re not), it looks awful and cheesy and becomes hilarious, which is not what it’s intended for.

Aspects that could/will be used in our video/ancillary task.

• Close ups of the band to establish who they are.• Highlighting the femininity of the band to appeal to a

female audience.• But also using traditional ‘male’ colours/imagery etc.

to appeal to a male audience.

Aspects that probably won’t make it in.

• Synchronised, complex dance routines. It would look awful and I’d probably die.

• Distinct, “quirky” traits for each member. It’s so cheesy and only the Spice Girls can get away with it.
