SllVlEM, with more than forty-five years experiencein design, construction and installation of Mixersand Concrete Batching and Mixing Plants, providestechnical solutions for all types of concrete productionsuch as Precast, Ready-Mix and on-site concrete.

The mixing process is the most significant and sensitivepart of the production process of concrete, and choosingthe correct mixer for the process is extremely impodant.Since the .1970's, SIMEN/I has developed a wide rangeof mixers which have been designed for the productionof quality concrete and is recognized worldwide.SIMEM MDC Continuous Flow Mixer adoots the twinshaft technology and is especially designed lor ZeroSlump Concrete and Roller Compacted Concrete(RCC). However, with special versions they have provenvery useful for pumpable slurries, mine backfill and inapplications for treatment of industrial solid waste. TheMDC are offered in two main models, MDC200 and theMDC500. Both models can be delivered with differentoptions, for instance mining version, side overflowdischarge, extended tank, tank in stainless steel andspecial solutions for water and material introduction.

AUTOMATIC GREASING SYSTEM

The Automatic Greasing System is an option for the MDCmixers and includes a grease pump that gives a pressure ofup io 200 bar, a line strainer and a divider block to ensurethe correct amount of grease is pumped into each of thefour seals.Concrete seals are installed on the mixing shafts, andconnected to the main automatic greasing unit. All fourshaft seals are continuously greased by the self-lubricatingsystem, which comes as an option on all models.The self-lubricating system provides a positive flow ofgrease lo the seals ensuring that groui does not pass intothe seals. The grease pump on the self-lubricating systemis mechanically driven by the mixing shafts. The grease tankhas a capacity of four Kg., and includes a limit-switch levelindicator.

MATERIAL DISCHARGER

The MDC mixers are standard equipped with a bottomdischarge opening for continuous flow of material.

The MDC can also be delivered in a special version withside overflow discharge, which is equipped with pneumaticor hydraulic driven gates. This version allows for continuousproduction with an extended mixing time, which has beenadopted in mining applications for production of pumpableslurries, and has been proven to be extremely useful in thisreoard.

MIXER MIND@ ELECTRONIC CHECK SYSTEMThe lvlixer Mind electronic check system is a completesurveillance unit designed to monitor temperatures andpower consumption. In addition, it ensures that the au-tomatic greasing system is working correctly. In the caseof abnormalities, it provides alarms which serve to avoiddamage to the mixer and its components. The Mixer Mindalso provides useful service reminders.

AUTOMATIC HIGH PRESSUREWASH DOWN SYSTEMTo reduce operating costs and time, SIMEM offers a highpressure wash down system. This system consists of twospecial rotating tubes running the full length of each side ofthe mixer, equipped with special nozzles divided into lwo orfour washing zones. Water is fed via a triplex high pressurepump delivering 60 lt. of water per minute at 200 bar- Theautomatic wash down system can be started at the end ofevery shift for a complete washout of the mixer. Alternatively,where concrete production is intermittent, a rinse can beprovided between productions. A high pressure wand is alsoincluded for final cleanout through the inspection doors.

PLANETARY GEAR BOXESSIMEM IVIDC mixers are not only designed for maximumproductivity, but also for long term reliability of service. Drivenby electric motors, the twin stage planetary gear boxes, ratedat 94% efficiency, are connected to the main shafts witharticulated joints, which virtually eliminate the transmission ofany possible force from the mixing shafts to the reducer outputshafts. Bearings for the mixing shafts are installed on separateflanges and isolated from the concrete seals, protecting thebearinos in case of seal failure.

SPECIAL VERSIONS

The MDC series of continuous mixers is de-signed, mainly, for Zero Slump Concrete andRoller Compacted Concrete (RCC), howeverwith several special designs, these mixershave proven useful in other applications aswell. The SllvlElV MDC mixers can be sup-plied in extended versions for increased mi-xing time. A special version with overflowdischarge can also be supplied for mixing ofcement based slurries. For operation in corro-sive environments, a version with a stainlesssteel tank can be delivered, as well as a widevariety of charging solutions for water.The MDC mixers are used in a variety ofprojects around the world, including the buil-ding of dams, roads and backfill ing of mines.

The SIMEIV IVDC mixing tank is completely protectedwith special anti-wear liners. The mixing action isperformed by cast iron paddies, which are hydro-dynamically designed to reduce wear and provideoptimized mixing results.All paddles are bolted onto the mixing arms, which arein turn bolted onto the mixing shaft for easier serviceand maintenance.

The special design of the mixing arms allows them tobe installed in different configurations to create a flowof materials inside the mixing tank, this ensures anoot imal mix ino resul t .
