The respective archive itself can be segmented. Closedindividual logs can be regularly swapped out to the long-termarchive server and read any time from WinCC and analyzedwith the available resources. The swap out ensures that nodata is lost even during long-term archiving.

The Tag Logging Editor permits user-defined recording of theprocess values as required. In all WinCC V7.0 Basic Licencepackages (Runtime or Runtime + Configuration), it is possibleto archive 512 archive tags. Archive PowerPacks allow anincrease up to 120,000 tags.

SIMATIC WinCC has a powerful, scalable SQL Server for dataarchiving on the basis of Microsoft SQL Server integratedin the basic system. This provides the user with all ofthe capabilities for archiving and analysis.

High-performance archiving for alarms and measured valuesHistorical values or value sequences are saved in processvalue archives. In addition to process values, WinCC alsoarchives alarms and user data. The archiving is done inarchives in the Microsoft SQL Server database with highperformance : up to 10,000 measured values and 100 alarmsper second as a continuous load (for a message burst even15,000 alarms within 10 seconds) are not a problem for acentral archive server. The memory requirement is very lowthanks to powerful, loss-free compression functions.Process values can be cyclically (continuously) compressed(e.g. mean value generation), either event-controlled orprocess-controlled (e.g. limit value exceeded), and archivedby means of an integral function.

Archive size and segmentation made to orderThe measured values or alarms are stored in an archive;the size of which can be configured. One month, one year ora maximum volume of data can be specified in a practice-oriented way as the maximum archiving period.
