Animals are funny. But they get

even sillier when you dress them

up like people. Not all animals like

    wearing clothes. (Don’t actually try

putting a frog in a skirt.) But you can

do anything you like on paper!

To be a silly sketcher, all you need

is a pencil, some paper, and a funny

    bone. Just follow the steps.

    You’ll have hilarious

    art in no time.

    What You Need

    pencilspencil sharpener

    (just in case)

    eraser

    colored pencils and markers

    lots of paper

  • Let’s start with a splash to get the

giggles going. Draw a giant whale with

a tiny hat, and try not to laugh!

    Chapter

    2

Draw a big oval-like shape on your paper. Add a circle eye and a curved eyebrow.

    Step 1

Add a cloud of air coming from the blowhole. Draw in motion lines too.

    Step 5

Erase the lines inside the overlapping shapes.

    Step 6

Draw on a pair of glasses and some bubbles. Draw a small hat above the blowhole.

    Step 4

    Finish It Up!

    Use markers to outline

    your drawing. Then try co

    lored

    pencils for shading it in.

Add on some fins, a pupil, and a smile.

    Step 2

Add detail lines on the body. Give the whale a blowhole too.

    Step 3

    6

  • If you have trouble making the shapes,

try tracing them first. Tracing is a good

way to get a feel for how to draw something.

Then try it on your own.

    Tip

Start with a long oval shape. Then add eye circles and a mouth. Start the chin with a backward J shape.

    Step 1

Use straight and curved lines to add arms, legs, and a wavy skirt.

    Step 2

Erase the lines inside the overlapping shapes.

    Step 3

Give a frog a wavy skirt,

and you have an animal that

    will get the crowd cheering.

    Cheerleader Frog

Fill in the eyes with big circles. Add funny eyebrows, nose slits, and a tongue.

    Step 4

Add details to make a shirt and eyelashes. Start the frog’s hands and feet.

    Step 5

Use circles to finish the frog’s hands and feet. Add detail to the skirt.

    Step 6

Complete the sketch with motion lines.

    Step

    GO TEAM!
