Library Services
Mission:
Provide library services to the legal community in New York and nationwide.
Facilitate access to electronic and print materials in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Using shared resources, establish a “just in time” model for access to legal information
Three aspects of service:
NYLI Collection Circulating print collection and document delivery
NYLI Remote Electronic Resources Desktop access to legal research databases
NYLI Reference and Customized Research Professional reference librarians will assist you with complex, in-depth
legal and multi-disciplinary research

Collection• Print, microform, electronic• Scope:
• All current and superseded federal and state codes, session laws, etc.• Federal and state legislative history materials (bills, reports, hearings)• Treatises on doctrinal and practice-oriented topics, including both current and
historical editions• ALL PLI course guides • Law reviews/bar journals/legal newspapers• State jury instructions, legal encyclopedias and practice handbooks• Federal and state records and briefs
• All books circulate (delivery by messenger or FedEx)• Chapters, sections, individual documents, etc. can be e-mailed• Direct access to online catalog – No need to use WorldCat• Concept is remote storage, NOT ILL – No need for mailing list requests or
ALA forms

• We can:• Assist with complex research projects and requests• Compile federal and state legislative histories• Set up bill and docket tracking• Request materials from other libraries, government agencies, etc.
• Particular expertise in:• New York State / New York City legal research• Working with records and briefs (U.S. Supreme Court, Second Circuit Court of
Appeals, New York State courts)• Superseded and historical materials
• You will be advised of all possible research costs for any project
