8/8/2019 Silent - Sportswear Forecast - Issue 10 Multiple Identities
1/4
As sights are firmly set on this seasons Summer Olympics, its time
for sportswear to deliver its share of medal winning performances.
While technical merit sits at the forefront of defining cut and fabric
choices, outside of the sporting arena, strong, clear colour usage offers
up an optimistic outlook with great success.
And tracing the course f rom warm-up through performance to ice-bath
recovery, a similarly varied selection of forms and silhouettes adds to the
field of competitors in creating faster, higher and stronger collections.
With crepe making a comeback, slimline
silhouettes are blurred at the edges.

Nude and sandy shades are complimented by floralgreens and darker military tones, with golden
metallics and shiny black contrasts providing more
playful backup.
Structured silhouettes benefit from decorative 3D
fabric inserts and shadow detailing to give a greater

Offset by more restrained, straight loose-fits, balloon-
like filled and deflated silhouettes accentuate backs
and hems, with clean detailing such as bonded seaming
serving to clean up any loose edges.
Nylons (densely woven parachute and waxed silks
provide the core fabric palette) with under-wiring are
used to generate additional volume as desired.
Delivering a pumped up intensity, rich reds a nd
midnight blues are set against more neutral, coppery
greens and khakis.
