Napa Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Santa Lucia HighlandsThose new to California wines are often awed by the sheer size of wine country. Reaching from Humboldt County in the north to San Diego County in the south and from the Pacific Coast in the west to the Sierra Nevada in the east, it covers an immense number of vineyard acres—522,000 at last count—and dozens of regions.

The three wines that comprise this lot come from three of California’s best vineyard locations. The 2006 Husic Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, from a small estate in the Stags Leap District, shows superb ripeness and finesse. The 2004 Michel-Schlumberger Estate “Deux Terres” Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, from benchland vineyards in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley, offers delicious red fruit, spice and pepper character.
