Santa Fe 50+ Employment Connection Newsletter for the Week of March 9, 2015
“There are
only two days in the year that
nothing can be done. One is
called yesterday and the other is
called tomorrow, so today is
the right day to love, believe,
do and mostly live.”
Dalai Lama
We hope you will decide to join us this week for our Job Club on Thursday, March 12,
from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the office of 50+ Employment Connection at 2550
Cerrillos Road (The Toney Anaya Building).
Our guest speaker this week will be Silas Peterson. His biographical information follows:
SILAS PETERSON
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER AND OWNER
Silas Peterson is Co-Owner and Chief Operating Officer of The Hire Firm, a New Mexico based company
specializing in executive recruitment and staffing solutions in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. His recent
industry experience includes hospitality and food services, financial services, non-profits, education,
gaming, construction, tribal governments, energy, healthcare, and construction, in the functional areas
of finance and accounting, operations, executive management, customer service, and administration.
Silas is a certified SPHR and SHRM-SCP. He is also an American Staffing Association designated CSP
(Certified Staffing Professional) and holds the PRC, CIR, ACIR, CSSR, and CDR certifications from AIRS, the
global leader in recruitment training. He is the current President of the Northern New Mexico Human
Resource Association and on the Board of Directors for the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce.
Silas has a Master’s Degree in Eastern Philosophy. He enjoys trail running, backpacking and pretty much
anything else he can do outdoors. He lives in Santa Fe with his five-year old daughter.
He describes his talk as follows:
“I will talk about the current state of the jobs and labor markets, my experience working with
local companies and, in a general sense, what they're looking for in candidates. I'll also share
our perspective as to how job seekers can stand out from the crowd at our firm and get
noticed by our recruiters.”
Please take advantage of this professional opportunity to hear from someone who works
with businesses and job applicants every day. He has an excellent understanding of what
employers want and need in the applicants they meet with and may eventually hire.
This is a perfect opportunity to learn from an expert what you can do to make
yourself more competitive, more qualified, and more interesting to potential employers
in today’s job market. This is also an opportunity to network, to bring your updated
resume, and to ask questions you may have.
The 50+ Employment Connection appreciates the support of local businesses, and we
hope that you too will show an interest in what is being offered to you. Please come
and find out what else you might be able to do to make yourself successful in your job
search efforts. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, promptly at 10:00 a.m.
