Sikadur®-Combiflex®-System
The Function
Expansion joints and construction joints aresealed by increasing the path of water pen-etration. The Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Adhesive is fully bonded to the substrateas well as to the Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip.
The System Components
Sikadur® AdhesivesTo achieve a watertight, durable connectionbetween the Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip and the substrate, the following2-component, epoxy-based Sikadur®
adhesives are used:
Sikadur®-Combiflex®-AdhesiveOptimum workability and finishProvides smooth surface
Sikadur®-31When high layer thickness is required
Sikadur®-33Mechanical mixing and dosage with
Sika CoMix®-101Very suitable for high volumes
Sikadur® StripsWeldable, no need for prefabricatedsectionsOutstanding elasticityHigh durability and chemical resistanceRoot resistant
e = water penetration (EN 206)

Sikadur®-Combiflex®-System
Sikadur®-31 adhesiveSikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip
Sikadur®-Combiflex®
Protection of the reinforcing steel from corrosion caused by de-icing salts and carbonization
Overstressed sealants are replaced with Sikadur®-Combiflex®
Special SolutionsSikadur®-Combiflex® Application
Substrate preparation bymeans of sand blasting, grinding etc., followed byvacuuming
Activate the Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip on theupper and lower side with aclean cloth and Colma®-Cleaner
Use masking tape to cover the joint
Mix Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Adhesive components A andB for a minimum of 3 minutesuntil the mix is homogeneous
Apply Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Adhesive on the left-handand the right-hand side of thejoint
Remove masking tapes
Place activated Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip inposition and roll Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip toexclude air through the specialperforations until adhesivecomes through
Apply Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Adhesiveon the strip
Remove masking tapes fromthe joint sides as well as thered middle strip from theSikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip
Overlap strip connections 3cmin minimum, apply Colma®-Cleaner or Hypalon-solvant,weld by means of hot air
Against Water PressureThe Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip shows the so-called«plastic flow» under constant high water pressure. In order to over-come possible «bumps», the Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip issupported by mechanical means (see picture, negative water pres-sure) or by a sealant in the joint (positive pressure).
Against mechanical InfluencesThe Sikadur®-Combiflex®-System could be mechanicallydestroyed for instance from the dirt collector in waste watertreatment plants. To protect it from this influence, the system maybe applied in a recess.
The Sikadur®-Combiflex®-System provides a hygienicconnection between floor and wall in the food industry. To further protect it against the influences of traffic, it should beapplied in combination with a guard rail.
During the time of construction, the Sikadur®-Combiflex®-System could be mechanically hurt from other workers. It isstrongly recommended to protect especially the Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip, for instance by means of strips made outof rubber mats.
