Instructions for Use
Surface Preparation Concrete surfaces should be clean, sound and free from oil grease, cement
laitance and all loosely adhering particles.
Absorbent surfaces should be saturated thoroughly but no ponding.
Materials Aggregates should be well graded and thoroughly washed. Sand particle
sizes should correspond to the thickness of mortar to be applied and
required surface nish.
Up to 2 mm thick 0 - 0.5 mm
2 - 5 mm 0 - 1.0 mm
5 - 15 mm 0 - 3.0 mm
over 15 mm 0 - 6.0 mm
Dilution Rates SikaLatex® is generally added to the clean mixing water within the range
1:1 - 1:4. For all applications apart from sprayed on renders a bonding
coat of Sika-Latex-water 1:1 mixed with fresh cement should be brushed
into the prepared surface.
Subsequently mortar application must be carried out whilst the bonding
coat is still wet.
Use and Application 1. Bonding agent for rendering/ Bonding between old and new concrete
Mixing ratio: 1 ltr Latex + 1 ltr water + 4 kg cement = slurry consistency.
The above slurry covers approx. 4 m2
Application : Add cement to the Latex-water premix and mix until an
even, creamy consistency is achieved. Apply the Latex
slurry onto the prewetted substrate in 1-2 mm thickness
and place new concrete or mortar render immediately
(wet-on-wet application).
2. Repair Mortar
Solution : SikaLatex® : Water =1:1 (by volume)
(for coat under 10 mm.)
SikaLatex® : Water =1:2 (by volume)
(for coat above 10 mm.)
Dry mix : Cement : Sand vary from 1:1 to 1:3 (by volume)Granular size : Fine or coarse sand depend on layer thickness
Consumption : 0.7 - 2.3 kg/m2 per cm thickness
3. Floor Screeds, Intermediate coat for water resistant
Solution : SikaLatex® : Water =1:1 to 1:3 (by volume)
depend on wearing resistance requirement
Dry mix : Cement : Sand =1:2 to 1:3 (by volume)
Granular size : Coarse sand (0-max.6 mm.) according coat thickness
Consumption : 0.4-1.9 kg/m2 per cm thickness
Note : For other application ie. other ratio of solution and Dry mix
consumption of SikaLatex® can be drawn from the table given.
Important
Recommendation
1. Never use SikaLatex® and water as a bonding coat without adding
cement (and ne sand).
2. Proper curing method is needed
3. Always prewet the absorbent substrate but no ponding
4. Multi-lay work always wet on wet
Cleaning Clean all tools and equipment with clean water immediately after use.
